Renewing 5 year driving license

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’m renewing my 5-year driving license, I own my own condo and understand I need prof of address, either a letter from immigration or embassy, will a utility bill be sufficient for this purpose?

Is a medical certificate also required?

Is any Department of Land Transport (DLT) office better than others for waiting time or simplicity etc.?

I have both car and motorcycle licenses; do I need 2 sets of documents for each license?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Michael

Depends were you live  but probably more than a utility bill.

Yes , I recommend going to a local clinic  rather than a hospital.

normally one original  and one photo copy will be accepted.

You will also have to pass the online training  videos and show a

pass certificate ..depending where you live you may have to go get an appointment before hand at the DLT..you will also probably have to pass the  eyesight and reaction tests  on the day  again depends where you live as to how much they follow the rules or not  so let us know where you live.

These are the latest requirements (as of last week) from Banglamung DLT for a 5 year renewal (with a one year visa or extension ie: marriage or retirement).

A visit (in person) is required to make an appointment, which is usually in about 2-3 weeks. The list also has the date and time of your appointment. Cost is 505 baht for car only.

Hope this clarifies most posters questions. Happy driving.

Do the "training" online in advance here.... https://www.dlt-elearning.com/ ....saves having to do it at the DLT.

At Pattaya/Banglamung DLT the online video must be done beforehand, and the QR test completion form must be shown on the day of your appointment. It cannot be done at the DLT.

Some bad advice above.  I recommend using an agent so you don't waste a lot of time and effort.  I used All Ways in Pattaya and was very pleased.

How many thousand baht did that babysitter to accompany you to the DLT cost?
