A Bangkok family has issued a desperate appeal after a woman accidentally discarded gold bars worth approximately 2 million baht, prompting an urgent search involving district officials and waste-collection crews. The incident, reported on 13 November, left the household “in complete darkness,” according to her son, who sought help from the popular community assistance page Survive – สายไหมต้องรอด. The family has asked for cooperation from waste collectors in Phasi Charoen district and offered a reward to anyone who returns the missing gold.

The son told the page that his mother, who has been experiencing memory issues, mistakenly threw away an envelope containing three gold bars, each weighing 10 baht, on Tuesday, 4 November 2025. She subsequently filed a report with police and attempted to trace the relevant rubbish collection route. However, Phasi Charoen district officials advised that the search would be difficult and that the rubbish may already have been incinerated.

The online appeal asked page administrator Ek to act as a public voice and encourage anyone who might have found the gold to come forward. The family also called on Pol Col Opas Harnnarong, superintendent of Phasi Charoen Police Station, to summon refuse-collection staff for questioning or review CCTV footage to determine the waste’s final destination. “If any of the collectors opened the bag and found it, please return it. The owner will provide a reward,” the family stated.

After the post circulated, social media users flooded the comments with sympathy and suggestions, while the page later shared an image of waste-collection staff holding a rubbish bag believed to match the description. The post received substantial engagement as followers shared the information widely in hopes of recovering the lost gold. The case has heightened public attention on the challenges families face when vulnerable individuals misplace valuable items.

Daily News reported that authorities are now expected to continue reviewing available CCTV and questioning collection crews to piece together the rubbish’s journey. The family hopes that public awareness will increase the chances of recovery despite the uncertainty surrounding the waste’s disposal.

Key Takeaways

• A woman in Phasi Charoen district accidentally discarded three 10-baht gold bars worth around 2 million baht.

• The family has appealed to police, district officials and waste-collection workers while offering a reward.

• CCTV reviews and staff interviews are expected to determine where the rubbish was taken and whether the gold can be recovered.

I'm afraid they would have to offer reward of 3 million baht if they want the bars back.

Our garbagemen are dependable, honest and polite. They once returned something they were sure we didn't want to discard! And we do offer them food, water and treats. It's not a job most of us would want to do, not healthy in the smog and being exposed to nasty and/or hazardous waste. Cheerfully.

I hope this family gets their gold back. And puts things away more carefully in future.

You have a good collection crew... ours would stay quiet and split the find between the  three of them.

Sorry to say but it sounds like somebody was a little reckless with this family treasure, had it been properly locked up the mother would never have made this mistake.

Unbelievable…….maybe one of the staff, or children had something to do with it.

Unfortunately discarding of similar important things happens sometimes with someone experiencing memory or psychological issues.

Hopefully the refuse employees are able to locate the Gold.  At current levels it's a nice bit of future money to have.

I have No idea if some skilled metal detectors could locate the Gold if the area hasn't been covered over to much.

"Have you found that Gold Son? I am almost sure I put it in the same bin as that old hard drive you had with those "Bittycoin things on."
