A two-year-old boy was found dead with extensive injuries near a roadside restaurant in Rayong province on 14 November, prompting a major police investigation into suspected violent assault. The body of the child, identified as “Toto”, aged 2 years and 10 months, was discovered lying face-down and unclothed by rescue workers along Route 36 in Mab Kha, Nikhom Phatthana district. Police confirmed multiple injuries across his body, including severe wounds to his legs and torso and noted that both ears were missing, with early estimates placing the time of death at over ten hours before discovery.

The case came to light after the child’s father, Mr Thanakorn, 26, reported that he had left his son in the care of a female restaurant worker the previous night. He stated that he had gone to drop off another employee by motorcycle, a trip lasting around 30 minutes, and returned to find that the caregiver no longer knew the child’s whereabouts. After searching through the night and the following day without success, the father said he eventually found his son’s body near the roadside about 300 metres from their home.

According to police, the father carried the body home to clean his body, before alerting officers and rescue personnel. The child’s mother, who was in another province at the time, reportedly collapsed in shock upon learning of her son’s death and travelled urgently to Rayong, where relatives attempted to console her. The incident has left the family devastated, with neighbours and those close to the household expressing deep concern over the circumstances.

Police at Nikhom Phatthana Police Station described the case as extremely serious and unnatural, and have begun a detailed investigation into homicide. Officers will question the female restaurant worker who was said to be caring for the boy, as well as conduct further interviews with the father to clarify all movements and timelines. Forensic teams and rescue foundations, including Sawang Porakun and Siam Rayong, were deployed to the scene to gather evidence.

Daily News reported that investigators are now examining CCTV footage from areas surrounding the discovery site in an effort to identify anyone who may have been involved in the child’s death. Authorities stress that all possibilities remain open as they await the full autopsy results from Rayong Hospital, where the body has been sent for detailed examination. Police say they are working to compile witness accounts and forensic findings to track down whoever is responsible as swiftly as possible.

Isn't this alone suspicious behavior? The police should be looking closely at the father about this. Why clean up the evidence on the body prior to calling the police and ambulance?

Yeah, you really seem confused

NEVER, ever leave your child with other people you cant absolutely trust. In Thailand, I follow this rule even if it means people hate me so much and call me all the names.

What a tragedy! I hope they find the dogs and put them down with a bullet in head.

I thought I was used to any kind of crap here.
Reading this story makes me feel uneasy. My head is spinning reading this.
In a civilized country, this "father" would have been jailed minimum 2 years.
I don't have children, but I would be a great father.
But one of a woman's instincts is to sleep with some jerk to get his "strong" genes.
I'm a good home-person. One my ex tried to get me back for seven years (with intervals of one or two years). And she don't know that I'm rich now. Another one tried too.

I feel so sorry for that little one. This is so ridiculous.

Just the day before yesterday, I saw a girl of about 2.5-3 years old run out of the office in front of me and run to the laundromat next door, which is located one more office away. She ran about 15 meters along a narrow sidewalk. 1.5 meters to the side and she would have ended up on a busy highway. I wouldn't have let my child, at such a young age, go more than a meter away from me in that situation.
I stopped and watched as no one else seemed to care. The woman sitting in the office didn't even look at her. Stunned, I stopped and began keeping an eye on the child, God forbid, to make sure he didn't run into the road. I stood there for about 20 seconds, and only when the child went into the laundromat did I, dumbfounded for few seconds and continue on home.

And where is soi dog lovers here?

You are assuming a person cut off the boys ears. The report only says ears are missing. Animals can scavenge dead bodies. A lizard, bird, rat, dog or pig  could have eaten the ears. They are small and easily accessible when the body is laid out on the ground. Nothing is mentioned. Is it the entire ear, or parts of the ear? Is there evidence that the ears were ripped off, sliced off or gnawed off? Nothing is mentioned. Maybe the child was born without ears? This is a known birth defect.

Overall the story is suspect. The father's story does not sound reliable.

Not happen in Thailand

The video shows no sign of remorse or regret from the father. At several points, he holds his head high. He's likely freed from the abuse and is happy about it.

And finally, where are these damn foreign soi dog lovers and defenders? Come here and speak out in defense of soi dogs!
