It's not that simple because carbs are like heroin and most people are addicted to carbs.

I used to have one of those firm bellies mentioned in the video clip in the link. It never hung down over the waist of my trousers, but rather looked like half a football under my shirt and was solid

What else are you guys spending time on if not cooking yourself?

When cooking yourself, at least you know what you eat, and how much

Yes eating at home is much better, my stomach is much happier now i eat at home, but going out to restaurants does break up the day

Keto isn't a proper diet, was it your lack of self control that made you switch away from carbs?

Everything has its time, and going out is nice, and it is nice because you dont do it every day for ever meal you going to eat.

I think many retirees doing a big mistake when coming here, and stop living a life with normal routines and duties, like when they where home going to work.

Get up in the morning, get som movement in to the body before you do anything else. Well, Im just going to stop preaching, because those who knows, knows, and do not need to be told, and those who dont know, doesnt want to be told. So simple as that.

It’s no wonder you can’t ever shut up.

Good grief already, a poster here is trying to encourage positivity towards wellness and you have nothing but negatively to offer so you choose come off as a ragged bitter old washed up contemptuous feminist that won’t shut up.

because sometimes diet is not enough, for exemple when you are on pre-diabet ( 100-120 )

A gift package to those who are doing keto or want to start keto, or know a little bit more about keto

More positive for Keto, and Im all for something that can help mental health, and to be true, the 3 months I did keto light, was fantastic in every whay and a great boost, but I did eat up to 20% carbs some days, so not consequent keto 100%. I lost 16kg in 3 month back then.

Real fanatics on Facebook loving keto and carnivore, i guess they had no self control and failed previously, keto seems easier, LDL goes through the roof, may or may not be bad, not enough data to judge yet.

Relatively little buzz over high carb low fat etc

There is some indication that some mental health issues reckoned as depression, anxiety, ADHD and bipolar, especially where there is stress and inflammation.

So you can't just say they have just lack of self control, it is a bit more complicated than so.

AI say when I check my answer:

Yes, some indications suggest the ketogenic diet may help with mental health issues like depression and bipolar disorder, particularly when stress and inflammation are factors, by reducing inflammation, improving mitochondrial function, and balancing neurotransmitters. The diet provides an alternative fuel source for the brain, potentially restoring metabolic pathways and impacting mood-regulating chemicals like GABA and glutamate. However, some recent studies have also linked high-fat diets to increased anxiety, so it's crucial to consult a healthcare professional before making changes to your diet.

AI seems to cover its butt in case it gives bad medical advice and someone decides to sue Sam Altman.

Many issues are still debated and maybe we don't have enough research.

When it comes to certain mental health issues involving inflammation, less sugar and more clean food have been a great recipe for decades, but not easy for depressed people to stay off fast food and candy it seems,

I watched this video throughout and gleaned two pertinent points which relate to my own circumstances. Perhaps an element of cognitive bias, but nevertheless they were good to hear.

Firstly; Dr. Bos listed pork belly very highly on her list of good protein. Good, as I eat a lot of pork belly, perhaps 3 times per week and love it. Most proponents of this type of lifestyle go on and on about fresh caught salmon and quality beef which is simply not practical when living in Thailand. Yes, good beef is available but price-wise compared to pork belly there is no contest.

Secondly; she spoke of dark skin areas around the elbows being a sign of potential issues. I have seen obese men with dark areas around their ankles. Myself, I have dry dark areas just above my knees at the front to the outer side. I've had these for years. However, I should use past tense here now because I did have. After 5 months or so of intermittent-fasting and much reduced carbs and sugars resulting in much weight-loss and improved overall health these dry dark areas of skin are almost undetectable now and vastly improved.

Good video and thanks for posting as I don't subscribe to DOAC due to so much undesirable content on his channel.

Then there was some so say Dr saying the other week  - best remedy was ro take a spoonful of sugar before bed   !!

Have seen in the past of eating chocolate before bed is good for Diabetics control ,,

appears so many far fetched ? ideas doing there round of late...  and of course the piles of different types  pills you need to buy from the so say Drs websites

There is many ways to Rome, and it all depends on your lifestyle, but mostly your genes.

Predisposed for diabetes and mental illness, or already diabetic and have mental illness.

For most people, who are are average active, a balanced diet solves all problems, but at once you start struggling with your health, fast food, ultra processed food, sugar, sugar drinks, sweeteners, chocolate, inactivity do not help you much.

I do not believe keto or high carb diet is good or sustainable for most, but for some, it can be the best solution.

For one who uses his glycogen storages, keto is not sustainable, neither a low protein diet.

Know who you are, and what you need based on your lifestyle or the lifestyle you want to have.

Inactivity, sugar and alcohol is not a solution for anyone, but for some, that's why they get up in the morning in lack of something better.

Read this article and freaked me our a bit. I just bought me this thing. 2nd day of using it. Does anyone else uses it? Do you find it helpful?

I was pretty sure that my night sweats were related to maybe sugar condition, but from what I can see everything looks more or less fine.

No, I don't because I cut down on carbs which spikes blood sugar the most.

Also, I try to stop snacking between meals.

Because every time you put food in your mouth, it spikes blood sugar.

Too many blood sugar spikes is not good.

I think it's better to first get the HBA1C test.

It gives an average over the past 3 months, I think.

If it's too high, need to adjust diet.

Then, you should monitor with the CGM.

But first check if your average blood sugar is in a healthy range.

Are all guys with diabetes overweight ?no skinny’s have it? Seems to be all fattys amongst my mates

Yes diabetes  usually effects overweight people because the body is always saturated with sugar.

This creates an off balance with insulin.

Type 2 yes usually, It's fat blocking the insulin receptors so insulin resistant. Type 1 totally different, not producing insulin. There are other types

This was once posted on Health forum Chronic kidney disease:

CKD can be (partially) reversible IF ...

This from AI Gemini:

You cannot reverse established kidney damage, but you can slow the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) through early diagnosis and consistent management.

So some things posted on here in general are just not believable.

I had my annual medical last summer, all good considering the high mileage. All markers in spec.

This summer, I had the same medical at the same hospital and CKD stage 2 suddenly gets mentioned.

I did a bit of sleuthing and apparently there are 5 stages, with 1 being variously described as 'virtually undetectable' which made me think why on earth have it at all? Start the early warning system with the current stage 2 (reversible) as stage 1. Then there may be a better chance of avoiding, or delaying the onset of the "irreversible" stage 3 and beyond.

Maybe big pharma invented CKD?

No. Isn't that a body building supplement?

Body builders take it also since it promotes muscle healing, but it is also suggested for older people

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/17674-creatine

While there is no evidence that it harms the kidneys, I believe it may affect eGFR test results, as it may increase creatinine levels in the blood.
