Transfer from Kasikorn Thailand to Bank in Canada

Featured Replies

My friend discovered he had cancer and left Thailand.  It is doubtful that he will return.  He would like to transfer funds from his Thailand Kasikorn account to his bank in Canada but is experiencing difficulties.  Something about a checkbox that asks if money was made in Thailand.

I move money into Thailand all the time but have not tried to move it out of the country.  Can someone with knowledge of moving moey please step in and point us in the right direction...

He could tick the box as there's not going to be any repercussions if he's not coming back to Thailand, or he could use DeeMoney.  You used to have to sign up in person but I believe it can be done online now.

does anyone know of a service that can help him navigate this situation?

How much?  If I were him I would transfer it to a good friend as the first move, maybe you?  I am fortunate to have two people I would happily trust with that.  Then have them move it out back to him.

I've never tried to send money the other way either. Does the Bank of Thailand have rules about outflow? Why would it matter if he made the money in Thailand (assuming he paid taxes on it - or is that why they ask?)

The key to your statement is whether he paid taxes on the money.  The Thai government wants to make sure that it gets every satang that it can from everyone, including expats and Thais.

There are many ways to do it, but the easiest is if you still have money in Canada to buy it from him and transfer the funds from your bank account to his.

If not, then it depends on he amount you are talking about.  I also have to wonder why he did not get the money exchanged at the bank to either CDN or US and take it with him.

he did not keep his records but did not make a significant amount of money.  most of the substantial amount was transferred into thailand. he went to the bank and had his funds transferred into a cashier's check before he left that was later refused by kasikorn...

I am sure KK had a reason to refuse it again I would think the simplest thing is for him to transfer the money to you or change int into BTC  or USDT then he can withdraw it where and when he wants

There's more to the story, right?

He went into a bank, withdrew his cash, had the clerk print off a cashier's check made out to him, and he took the check with him.

Did he try to deposit the check in a Canadian bank, and the check was refused by Kbank?

Are Kbank cashier's checks valid internationally or only for domestic transfers?
