A group of club security guards in Pattaya has surrendered to police after assaulting a motorcycle taxi rider in a case of mistaken identity, prompting renewed scrutiny of nightlife-related violence in the city. The attack left 47-year-old rider Khomsan Kongsuk with swelling to his left eyelid and bruising to his right hand after he was beaten in Soi Marine, South Pattaya, on 23 November 2025. The incident occurred in front of multiple tourists and initially raised suspicions that an “Indian boss” linked to a well-known Walking Street club had ordered the attack, though all involved now state it was a misidentification.

The case followed a confrontation earlier on 20 November, when another rider Pakorn, 43 and Khomsan had transported four foreign customers to a hotel. While stopped at a red light, an intoxicated Indian customer on Khomsan’s motorcycle allegedly reached forward and twisted the throttle, prompting Pakorn to warn him about the danger. Pakorn said the customer reacted by pinching his wrist and slapping his shoulder, leading to an argument during which Pakorn got off his motorcycle and punched him once before riding away, believing the matter was over.

Police investigating the assault later brought Pakorn in to clarify the sequence of events. He told officers that he only learned afterwards that Khomsan had been beaten by a group of men, who he believed had been directed by the Indian customer’s associates in retaliation for the earlier punch. He maintained that the attack targeted the wrong person.

The situation escalated when the manager of the Indian-themed club, 29-year-old Detchatorn, brought four guards to meet investigators and admit involvement. They said they had checked CCTV footage showing a rider wearing vest number 18 leaving quickly after the earlier altercation and later found Khomsan wearing the same number while waiting for customers. The guards admitted they rushed in and attacked him until he fell, only to realise afterwards that they had misidentified him.

The guard group told police they had attempted to contact Khomsan to apologise and offer to pay medical expenses, but said he insists on pursuing full legal action. Detchatorn also clarified that the Indian man who was punched and required seven stitches was “not the Indian boss or owner”, but merely a customer known to them as a friend.

Police said they have documented both sides and will proceed with legal action against all involved. Investigators plan to hand the case to prosecutors once all statements and evidence have been compiled.

Key Takeaways

• Police say guards admitted to assaulting Khomsan after misidentifying him from CCTV images.

• The original conflict began when an intoxicated customer reacted aggressively to a safety warning.

• Officers will move forward with legal proceedings against all parties involved.

The Indian must be deported, the four cowards you beat up an innocent lone man, need at least 6 month jail.

More generally foreigners should not be allowed to own/manage entertainment venues...

Exception made for above ground, fully licensed restaurants.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. Especially the Walking Street club owners. They must be gangsters to have amassed that much money to open these lavish clubs in the first place.

If not a formal mafia, there is at least strength in numbers and they can form a gang if you cause them problems. Probably best to avoid them.

And they wonder why tourist numbers are falling. Pattaya should be sold to Cambodia and a huge wall put up around it.

Which one of the many mafias are you referring to? The local guys, the police, the taxi gangs, the Russians, the Chinese, or another one?

Lets assume you are talking about the one in the photo with the black eye as you don't clarify which of the heinous Indians. He interfered with a taxi driver unnecessarily and got in a fight with a black eye as a result. That is heinous where I come from if you are a guest in a foreign country, but with all the stories of stolen hub caps out of Liverpool I guess its just a lads night out to you?

Let's assume that you can read, the OP only pictures one Indian and the article refers only to one Indian being involved in the fracas.  The unobscured photo shows the Thai win rider.

The entertainment businesses to which the poster referred are not "obviously sleazy, dodgy businesses" that deserve revokation of their licences.

I am overall rather negative about the relaxing of visa exempt to India and China, especially when tied to the extended 60 days permission of stay. We seem to get a lot of problems from those sectors.

An Indian one.
