Brit Stunned at How Much £2.50 Buys in Thailand's 7-Eleven

Are you saying that SMALL bags of uncooked rice are not as GOOD as large bags. 7/11 sells oil as well.

For me, 7/11 is 13km away, small Lotus 21km, and big Lotus and Makro over 30km. Guess where I buy my beer.

Yes, local M&P shop.

Does the M & P shop adhere to the 2-5 alcohol selling laws?

🤔😳🤯

Great idea, travel all the way to Thailand and buy some Sprite , Skittles and Kinder joy .    Hopefully his next stop will be  Tops supermarket where Western goods are double the back home price

  • Good thing he did not try and buy beer between 2-5 in the afternoon.

  • 7-11 shops should be closed down as a health hazard. So much of their 'food' and drinks are junk food full of chemical additives.

What the naive YouTuber didn't understand about 7-Eleven in Thailand is that they are not the same as back at home. In Thailand, they sell everything at supermarket prices. Back at home, 7-Elevens are very expensive, so you only buy something if you're in desperate need.

Cue 7-11 reading now raising prices. 😀

Thais don't eat cheese ?.....Some DO, My Wife Loves her Cheese on Toast.....Just Sayin' !!

Thai people love cheese. If they are not eating it, it's because they can't afford it. There's a Thai kebab stall close to where I live. I've never eaten so much cheese in a kebab before, when I chose the "extra cheese" option, and all the customers there are Thai. My Thai gf can't get enough cheese. I have to tell her to take it easy when she is preparing food that requires cheese.

A British traveller visiting Thailand was astounded by how far his money went at the local 7-Eleven. During his trip, he decided to see what he could buy with £2.50 (approximately 111 Thai baht),

Good to see the Brits pushing the boundaries, once again.

I winder if he strayed to Walking street to see how far £2.50 would get him.

    Over way around

Supermarkets in Thailand sell products at 7/11 prices

Put the shoe on the other foot....the mass Thai population grinding out a minimum wage of around 400b per,day....111b will get ya 2-large beers for happy-hour at the end of your 12hr day of being a company slave. I don't know what the relative valuation would be in the UK with their min.wage. The kid should of done a comparison in those terms instead of an advert on the giddy cost of Thai-junk food.

UK minimum wage is about 10x Thailand's.  2 beers (in a UK store) would cost close to or maybe even less than in 7-11 here.

That's an absurd comment. Do you think 7-Eleven sells more junk than every other convenience store or supermarket in Thailand? No, it does not!!

No one is forcing you or anyone else to buy junk. Most balanced people buy some junk food, but don't live on it. Have you never eaten a chocolate bar or had an ice cream? Live a little! You're going to die anyway. Being a die-hard health nut is a stressful life, and can kill you faster than if you are more relaxed about what you eat.

Look at all the fat Thai people waddling around these days, the West is not any better. Then look at photos of people in the 1960s or 70s.

Hardly a tubby in sight.

Because they weren't eating junk food daily or even weekly.

The rise in cases of diabetes, bowel cancer, heart diseases can be laid at the door of foods with high sugar, sodium and chemical additives content.

And Thais consume a lot nowadays

Thank you, that's the point I'm making.

A British traveller found four items in a Thai 7-Eleven for just £2.50.

It is not just in Thailand, there are many daft Brit vloggers on YouTube that get so ecstatic, almost having orgasms, when they film not only 7-11's, but McDonalds, Burger King, KFC etc. with their GoPro cameras, in neighbouring Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and the Phillipines! I no longer subscribe to their cr*p productions.

Absolutely...childhood obesity rates are through the roof here in Thailand.

Interesting that in a country where accessibility to locally grown, nutritious and cheap food is available to everyone. Yet the tendency of the populace is to pay a higher price for junk & processed food choices.

.

....Did I mention that processed food has addictive chemicals in it that tweeks the tongue-taste with the message of "tastes like more".....sure good for the 'poison for profit' business, right.

So, presumably you would advocate for every other shop that sells exactly the same items as 7-Eleven to be shut down also?

I think it is all a promotion stunt to show that Thailand is cheap... which is not except some articles.. All imported goods are overpriced, and even Thai people are complaining that everything is getting so expensive.. Maybe he should start to find out how he could earn a Thai daily wage and what he can buy of it

The Lotus-Lek ... has a wider range of good food, like large bags of rice (uncooked), oil,

Both available in 7-Elevens.

It's impossible for normal people to get tired of anything online. If you're tired, stay away and sleep it off.

Yes, a good point. CP All, a subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand Group, is the exclusive operator and franchisor for 7-Eleven in Thailand. With over 15,400 stores as of May this year, they likely have the most purchasing power of any retailer in Thailand. The CP group stocks all supermarkets and other convenience stores, as well.

Stupid... He did not buy normal stuff only some drinks and candy...indeed Thailand is cheaper than the UK...but 111THB is a lot for people on a daily wage of 400 THB a day. And he want to save 100k GBP to live im Thailand, but he will soo know that foreigners have different prices than Thai

Plus the Thai pension per month if just over 60 is ,I believe , 600 THB. I would not last half a day with that amount.

Try Foodmart and Villa Market next sunshine

Yeah, I'll bet He Wouldn't Get All those Sweeties in either of those places for 2.50p ( 111 Baht )

He probably could...C-Vitt B16, Sprite B16 (cheaper than 7-Eleven), Kinder Joy B42 and more than enough change to buy Skittles if they stocked them.

Then you can send him to Foodland for local cheddar and other cheeses--about half the price of the imported cheeses.

That's interesting, never considered Thai cheese.

I will check that out next time I'm near a Foodland.

Hope it's very strong tasting cheddar or it will be a waste of time for me.

It's mild cheddar. But as I say, it's good enough for cooking and putting on nachos.

Ok, That's a no go for me.

But thanks for the heads up.
