Stop bitching about dual pricing for foreigners

That's what I'm saying. It's NOT "just looking" because in order to confirm your guess you need to hear the person speaking.

I never said I could tell from looking with any level of certainty. And even hearing one speak really confirms nothing.

In the quiz there are only 3 answers possible. Despite having a 1 in 3 chance of getting the correct answer almost all people get lower than 50%.

Still, ~50% for a one-in-three guess would make one rich playing craps.

So, what are the three? Thai, Cambodian and Burmese?

People are over confident in their ability to distinguish ethnicity/nationality.

What people? I think I'm pretty good, and I am often right, but I am not confidant in my ability to distinguish ethnicity and or nationality from looking, and I never said, nor meant to imply that I was.

Where are you from? Are you not often able to tell the locals from the tourists?

A mere soupçon of what it is like to experience 'racism' and the expats are frothing at the mouth.

But any suggestion that someone else (who experiences real racism) wants to try and play 'the race' card and they have a hissy fit.

If Thai national parks were actually any good I wouldn't be complaining but these things are TINY compared to US. Maybe a water fall or just a little clearing in the forest off the main road. The Thai price of 20/40 baht is honestly about right considering what you're getting.

Compare that the US where you can go camping and hiking for days in the national parks. Yes it's more expensive but you're actually buying access to some significant where you can have a real adventure.

This is true. Same in Canada. We have national parks that are as big as countries. Wood Buffalo National Park is bigger than Switzerland!

Trump signs executive order calling for foreign tourists to pay higher national park fees

Unlike Thailand, the U.S. is not desperately trying to attract more foreign tourists, in order to save their GDP from plummeting!

All I want to say is there is a difference between "generally know" and "think you generally know". How can you know without some sort of confirmation? If we hear someone speaking then we have a much better idea of where the person is from. An opinion can formed from "just looking", but it's not "generally knowing". it's just your opinion.

That would depend on your definition of tourist. (Another opinion) I don't know how to accurately distinguish between Thai locals and Thai tourists by just looking. I doubt many can. According to many Thai people all foreigners are just tourists.

I never said I could "generally know", you just made that up.

I do not make up my own definitions, I leave that to the left.

I can generally tell Europeans from Americans in Bangkok just from looking.

This reminds me of Yogi Berra's famous paradox: "I never said most of the things I said"
