  • Why cat and mouse from start of thread.  If in Laos then state that.  If looking for service to make payment then specify.

  • Why the cryptic questions.  Outline what visa you are wanting to apply for and current location

Beer in mind that Friday is a Thai holiday so get your applications in ASAP if time is important.

And do not expect an email reply near instantly, I sent the online form from Laos hotel, waited a day for the pay money email to download, then a couple more days for the actual eVisa email. It seems there is no timescale or mention of timescale, just a matter of sitting it out..

I got to the hotel in LOS on a Monday, I eventually left LOS on the Thursday, they don't work Saturday or Sunday, it would be a drag if you caught the weekend..😬

Did you get to pay a day after you left the application? I'm gonna leave the application quite early Wednesday and hopefully pay Thursday, do you think that timing should likely work?

When you send the eform off, you have to wait for them to open and read it, so nobody knows any timescale, depends on how many applications they have to deal with, I suppose, I ended up staying 4 nights in the hotel.

Btw for the documentation (like birth certificate, ID card, etc), scanned signed copies of the originals should be good, that's apparently what they want? Does it matter if they're color / black and white

And the visa fee is 2k for single entry non-o?

Can you apply for METV in Vietnam or Laos if from the UK ?

This one I'm confused with.

Previously there were visas that you could only obtain from pp country or country where you had permanent  resident status.

Non O-A and METV being two examples.

Since eVisa introduction I'm not 100%

@Tod Daniels any input on this.

Officially the rule still states you can only get METV where you are a permanent residence.

There was one report of someone getting one successfully in Vietnam that I can recall.

Also have reports of some people getting METV instead of DTV, which is an expensive workaround way of getting METV where you aren't a resident.

Quick question - if I were to stay in Da Nang, I could get the visa "remotely" from Saigon Embassy, right?

Sorry, I have to cancel that promise, based on the reports on the problems exiting the country on Nong Khai border I reserved a ticket to Vietnam instead

Does HCMC Embassy want the documents (like birth certificate) as signed copies, or the original ones, or both? I've seen both being asked and their pages don't have any clarification

Quite a  few people were also saying the same thing

Crazy, this can put people into overstay if they don't exit with a day/days to spare.

To be denied to leave the country overland....heard it all now.

Send one or the other, or send both. For sure if they want something different they will email you.

You send neither the original nor a copy to the embassy or consulate. Instead, you upload a copy with the e-Visa application.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Well obviously that is the case., send=upload. The point is they will ask if they want something more/different.

Yes, a visa advice group on Facebook.

Surprisingly, we are getting reports from people at both Thai consulates in Vietnam (Hanoi and HCMC) who do not legally live/stay long term in Vietnam (meaning they are just there as tourists) who have successfully gotten 6 month METV issued. 😮

I know of three or four confirmed cases. 🙂

Please supply the name of the group.

I could then read the whole of the post that you posted and also the other posts.

That would give me, and anyone else who is interested, a much clearer picture.

Thankyou.

When uploading birth certificates , does it need to be scanned or will a photograph of the birth certificate be adequate ?

I would personally use Adobe Scan on my phone.  But my camera also has a document mode which is pretty ok.  As long as what is sent is clear/legible
