What to do with old engine oil ?

Featured Replies

I recently bought a new truck and I do change engine oil myself (all filters as well). I have done this even in the U.S. with my BMW and Toyota truck. since I really don’t trust any shops, not even FORD dealers (by my experience they fix one problem then will have more other problems) Unless it is really necessary.
The question is what do you do with the oil that needs to be recycled ? If you do service your own.

Changing the oil yourself will likely void your warranty in Thailand. The US has laws to prevent them from doing that but I don't think Thailand has the same. The dealers will gouge you.

Just take it the service center and get done there, never seen a place that recycles motor oil here.

There are recyclers that will take the old oil  perhaps ask your local

fried food vendors who they use and ask them to point the recycler truck   towards you...I have also left the old oil in the oil container near the rubbish bin on the road and it disappeared very quicklly.

Some of the old oil I use on my motorcycle and pedal bike chains

It also works like creosote  to stop wood rot and insect damage.

No, changing your own oil does not automatically void your car warranty in Thailand

, but you must use manufacturer-specified oil and parts, perform the service correctly, and keep detailed records of all maintenance. If the manufacturer can prove that your DIY work caused the damage, they can deny a warranty claim.

I see the Thai disposing in the local waterways.

Oil and filter change in LOS is cheap, they get old used oil collected to be reborn into something, I do not see the point of squeezing under a car to do it then worry about the old oil.......🤗

Though I used to do it back home, all part of my hobby and saving money there.......:stoner:

You only read the topic not all posts by op. 🤔

“All's well that ends well.Just got back from meting with theMazda manager”. He admitted that his staff made a mistake. I received 6 coupons for free oil change (which I probably won't use). How did I do it?

I took the warranty booklet and we sat down and read it together. It clearly states

1: You must....blah blah blah

2: You must ...Blah blah blah

3: YOU SHOULD get your car serviced by the dealer/authorize service center.

4: You must...blah blah

5: You must.....

As I informed him about the difference between MUST and SHOULD were quite great and that the person or committee that review the warranty statement were probably pretty smart.....therefore the warranty statement is most likely correct. He smiled, offered me 3 free oil change couponsand I countered with 6.....and I got t.

For all you Mazda owners. Look at page 12 of your warranty booklet. You should have the same book if you bought your car recently.

Theres plenty diesels burning it, I smell it every day. None of your neighbors ? Ask them, someone will take it

I don’t need to be blamed for their engine problem after adding my old oil.🤔😂 I just left 2x4 gal of old oil by the driveway today. I’ll look later see if they are gone. as “Johng” suggested. 😁

Well it kinda depends..if you live in the middle of nowhere it might take a while   in my location its gone  pretty quick..applies to most stuff  metal, plastic, clothes, real wood  not that stupid sawdust wood

gone in a flash   the bins are scavenged 3-4 times a day.
