Don't mean it like that Chris. I don't think you will be bored traveling this beautiful country. Seeking out new adventures every day.

I was just thinking; do your plans allow you to get home for Xmas or New Year? Do you deviate off your planned route much?

When I went touring for a month back in 2006, every time I came across a nice looking fishing place, I had to rewrite my plans.

I am booked in Chiang Mai for Christmas and New Year, then i will ride to Chiang Rai, Nan and onto Isan. After that no set plan but maybe riding south.

Day 1. Pattaya to Kanchanaburi Via the start of Death Railway.

Ray and I left Pattaya this morning at 8am in weird weather, very misty and yet hot. As you may have noticed my bike is now a 142cc Bike after having a big bore kit installed along with other work giving it a lot more power ready for the mountains.

There was only one viewpoint we stopped to see, the start point of The Death Railway, here.

Then onto our usual stop, Smiley Frog.

Day 10. Mae Hong Son to Pai.

An easy ride to Pai today, I stopped at a few new places but they were not worth the time. First off was Ban Rung Arun Yunnan Chinese Village (Ban Mae Suya), here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/SbdKG43gpjKCaAf76

From here I turned up to ride a track to a waterfall (Susa waterfall) but I was stopped at a barrier and asked to pay, so I did a U-turn.

Crossing R1095 I rode a short way to Wat Pa Tam Wua, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/XVnYjEL2wnuZz2uN8

Riding in it was a large green and clean area, but besides the gate nothing to photograph. Saying that there was a group of scooter riders there taking selfies with the monks!

Next stop was Ban Luk Khao Lam Viewpoint, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/ouPaDXELhavTZTVZ7

The next viewpoint was Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/aVUUsTrzV8hrJbm99

Both of the viewpoints were crowded. From here I rode down into Pai.

Day 11. Pai – Wiang Haeng – Chiang Mai – Pai Loop

Today’s ride turned into a longer ride than planned, but it was a great ride with great view and a good mix of good road, potholed road and tracks.

Leaving Pai I took a side track I noticed down to the Pai river and a little further up the road I stopped in a farmers field to photograph the mountains in the distance.

From here I rode north to a small weir with a wooden bridge to the side, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/LDkSxXYmJJ66kEDR9

Just up the road is Wat Phra That Muang Noi historical site, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/EGYWcxLk6dDeygdG9

From here the road turned to track up to the army post, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/7Xday3ternGP68sd8

Then it was potholed road for a while until joining R1322 – R107 – R1095 back to Pai. 260km of good riding.

Day 12. Pai, Yunlai Sea of Clouds Viewpoint.

Today I cancelled my planned ride after losing time getting un-banned from facebook for some reason I have no idea and they could not tell me.

Then my phone after an update could not connect with my laptop, another hour of swearing lost!

Eventually I took a small ride to see wonderful views.

Day 13. Pai to Chiang Mai.

Todays easy ride to Chiang Mai through me a surprise on the twisties today. Riding a hard left hand bend I spotted water spraying up through the road like a garden sprinkler, as I passed the front wheel slipped out away to the right and I was positive I was in for a fall, it then found purchase as the rear started sliding.

I pulled up to a stop on the verge on the wrong side of the road sweating and swearing. I was extremely lucky that there were no vehicles on that side of the road, it would have been messy!

After that it was an easy ride to Chiang Mai a 125km ride.

Day 14. Chiang Mai to Doi Ngom

This morning, I rode to a mountain I have ridden up before, Phra That Doi Ngom (Ban Thi, Lamphun). But last time the CT125 died at the very steep part near the top. This time with the big bore kit it was an easy ride.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/AJn6hupjh6H4xmXy9

From here I rode to a secret rocket launch site that happens to be based at a campground, Huai Lan Rocket Campsite, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/pp9y85xC39Cw1feZ6

I then road around Huai Lan before riding back to the city.

Day 15. Exploring South East of Chiang Mai.

First stop today was to get the bike tested for the tax and insurance. I was a little concerned as with the big bore kit the exhaust is loud. For the grand total of 60 baht ( 1 pound 40 p / under 2 dollars) it passed!

I then headed to a temple I had not seen before, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/6aXa38VgCX42xs39A

Following the road through the temple grounds it went up to a great viewpoint at the top of the mountain, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/1vJAkbY4G9E2u6jQ9

I then rode onto Wat Doi Khammo, the sacred well. The well is up a track you access through the temple grounds. I got maybe halfway when the track got very steep, but it was deep gravel mixed with stone and I can to a standstill. After a six point U-turn I rode back to the temple and back to Chiang Mai via the road that follows the railway tracks takes you to the city.

Day 16. Chiang Mai Exploring Locally.

I stay local today as I had things to sort out in town.

I first rode up to a temple I have not been before that for some reason very busy with local tourists. They also have a nice viewpoint there. Wat Phra That Doi Kham, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/eYHPsrgdKYb3vBR67

There is also a viewpoint here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/E2PGHvXiVrrFR7mu6

I then rode to the Royal Pavillion, but decided not to stop and rode on to a small reservoir, Thung Roeng Reservoir, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/K5t2YDKmd6CmRge49

From here I returned to Doi Thammasathit Temple, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/SAxevuJ5uMWSSa4XA

But both entrances were fenced off, so I called it a day.

Day 17. Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon Loop

Today I rode a loop I have ridden a few times, the last time I came off when the side stand came lose and the spring came off resulting in the stand coming down, hitting the ground and throwing me off!

The route from Chiang Mai head through Mae Wang National Park on R1013 and keep on until this point.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/RGAH2t1Dps38cEy37

This concrete road leads to track that passes behind Doi Inthanon and give great views.

Eventually the road turns to track and today a very dusty track that the farmers trucks were blowing it into the air to such a degree I was not prepared to use my camera after a while. My phone had was used.

The track turns back to concrete and leads to Mae Nachon where you continue to loop back to Chiang Mai.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZFsvEsUE9142RQcBA

A good 274km ride.

Day 21. Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao.

Today I rode up to Chiang Dao to photograph it and the bike, also with the idea of finding better viewpoints of it.

I spent too much time at places I knew and did not find new views in the end.

My first stop was here. You can camp there and there quite a few places to camp in the area.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/o6yXHfwxM9nKkLeq5

Next stop was Buddha Brahma Panyo Meditation Center (Chiang Dao Branch), here,

https://maps.app.goo.gl/ktPJmmyn7CogiXM48

Nearby was At Phuttha - The Buddha Image Resides at Chiang Dao, here.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/5D4MtsSmUtRYoQc66

The lady owner came out to chat with her ridgeback dog that was not most pleased to see me, but it was behind a gate!

I then rode to Chiang Mai Central Prison to check out if the track behind it has been paved yet, it is still track so I will go ride somewhen.
