An Indian man apologized after a video went viral showing him placing his feet on a seat backrest on a Trang-Phuket bus. The incident was captured by Facebook user Y’Not Seven and shared widely on social media, sparking criticism.

The video shows the man removing his shoes and resting his feet on an empty seat's backrest. The behavior was deemed inappropriate and disrespectful by the person who recorded it, mentioning an unpleasant odor affecting others onboard.

Thai netizens reacted strongly, criticizing his lack of manners and the unhygienic nature of his actions. Comments included questions about why the driver didn't intervene and suggestions for the man to learn proper etiquette.

The Indian man reached out to the Phuket Times Facebook page, asking for the footage to be removed and apologizing for any inconvenience. He explained his actions were due to limited legroom and discomfort, promising not to repeat the behavior.

This incident follows a similar one in September 2023, where a TikToker highlighted poor public transport etiquette after her armrest was used as a footrest by a fellow passenger, reported The Thaiger.

Smelly feet!

When I worked in India, the Indians often put there feet on the armrests of the seats in front during the Middle east leg of the Delhi/London flight. There were many arguments over it.

Ah the deadly Indian Foot smell. A threat to life on the planet.

With 1.46 billion people in India, and personal income there rising quickly, this is just the beginning.  Thailand, it was nice knowing you.

At least he has had the decency to apologise, so I forgive him.

Then again, I wasn't there to smell his feet...  🧀
