Trump wants to recreate a white America that never existed

Featured Replies

Trump seems to prefer white and wealthy. He does seem to have disdain for people of color, but he is more tolerant of them if they are wealthy. My guess is he even dislikes his white supporters who are not rich.

The whole immigration thing has been blown way out of proportion and it is strictly about votes, fear and xenophobia. It is so ugly and completely lacking any dignity, perspective, or grace.

President Donald Trump has promised not only that America will be “great again” but also that it will be “healthy again,” “wealthy again,” “beautiful again,” and—crucially—“affordable again.” Now, as the country faces persistent inflation, a housing crisis, and rising prices on consumer goods, he claims that affordability is nothing more than a “con job,” an opportunistic buzzword leveraged by a rival party. “The word affordability is a Democrat scam,” he said during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

"Immigration has been an important source of employment in manufacturing for some industries, and if you take away some of their labor supply, that's just gives them more incentive to pursue automation and other forms of capital intensive manufacturing," he told CBS MoneyWatch.

Trump's out in 2029, the Republicans will lose the House after the Mid-terms, and the House and Senate, and the Oval Office will be Democrat in Jan 20 2029.  Then the borders will be wide open, and nothing the Democrats promises to average Americans will be any more successful than all the junk that Trump promised.

To quote George Carlin: "It's a big club and you ain't in it."

I'm looking forward to another Democrat administration with open borders, which costs the taxpayer a pile of money.   The USA has a housing problem; adding more people to the mix does not help that issue.

President Trump is facing backlash from his own MAGA base after saying it’s necessary to import workers through the H1B visa program due to the lack of American talent.

India and China rank one and two respectfully for the number of workers entering the U.S. with H1B visas.

Appearing on Fox News, Trump responded to a question from Laura Ingram pushing the President on whether there are enough “talented people” in America to hire domestically.

“You don’t have certain talents, and people have to learn,” Trump responded, reported The Independent. “You can’t take people off an unemployment line and say, ‘I’m going to put you into a factory and we’re going to make missiles.’”

The son of former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley also jumped into the fray. He accused H1B visa holders of taking American jobs and of refusing to immerse themselves into American culture.

The ugly racism exhibited by this regime has done everlasting damage to America's social fabric and cultural status in the world. Not only are people of color seeking community outside of America, but no one is aspiring to emulate or receive the cultural approbation of white America. In a word, America has become soulless and morally defective. Reflect on the lasting damage Nazism did to German culture for a moment and you will start to understand the cultural damage that has been inflicted on America by Trump and the MAGA movement.

What does that mean?

My long-time understanding of 'left' meant 'socialist', actually meaning 'share the wealth', 'support and take care of each other' as in national medcine.

And it didn't include any aspect of 'racism'.

Regardless of colour / ethnic background 'we are all humans and all equal' was a dominant attitude.

You may or may be right about some of that stuff, hopefully the borders will be much tighter than before, and hopefully we won't have a very embarrassing and grossly incompetent Boy Scout leader as the defense secretary, and a total butt kisser as an attorney general.

And hopefully we'll have a non grifter, non billionaire president who cares one iota about the average American.

Absolutely correct, and when I'm speaking to a Thai person these days and they have that weird look on their eyes when I mention that I'm from America, I just simply point toward Trump as evidence that America is not necessarily great, and it's definitely not number one, in terms of quality of life, cost of living and so many other factors.

That US exceptionalism is just pure hyperbolic nonsense.

A fascinating case of the son being just as ignorant as the mother. There is an astonishing concentration of ignorance within that administration.

It's easy to fixate on the travel restriction and scream racism, but I have yet to see anyone offer an alternative option other than to open the door and say behave.

The restrictions are in place because the named nations are either in a state of hostility with the USA or are unable or unwilling to  co-operate with the USA in the screening of prospective visitors. How do the people complaining expect the USA to screen visitors if there is no mechanism to do so?

Look at the list of  countries and please identify which countries are either not hostile to the USA,  and/or not  a failed stated and/or not a source of visa violators or abusers.

image.png.942deee90dd9fd7dbf4897495cbde611.png

Fine, you don't like the restrictions. please  explain how the visitors will be effectively screened and vetted before arriving in the USA.

What Trump says or does is one thing.

The point here is why do all those brillant minds who come from other countries and can prosper anyplace...why are they bootlicking America ? They should rather slam the door, leave and open up shop in their own countries like their fellow citizens. Many doctors, software, professionals have left america, gone back to their original homelads, set up shop there and are doing very well. Stop bootlicking America is the point...not what Trump does or does not.

Your notion of this delusional utopia is just that, delusional, the core of the left’s ideology is racist. Leftists are inherently racist, historically they have used racial divisiveness as a tool, it’s the epitome of racism. Your socialist forefathers Mao and Stalin used racial divisiveness to further their objectives. It’s quite fascinating observing a bunch of racist in denial of being unwittingly aware of what they are.

Beside the title being BS, Euro origin white (if that's what whites are), are slowly becoming the minority (<49%), if trends continue vs other folks, as birth rates are lower than others; hispanic whites or 'brown' folks.   Not even counting the <10-20% (?) of the uncounted population, as being illegal aliens.

AI guesstimate ...

... "In the U.S., Hispanic women generally have the highest fertility rates, followed by Black women, with White and Asian/Pacific Islander groups having lower rates." ...

Not so wrong. Though folks are free to believe as they please. The only thing that holds socialism together in Western countries is capitalism, without capitalism the West would descend into full fledged communism, the further into socialism a country goes the more people depend on government by virtue of the false promises delivered and closer to tyranny, which is a historical fact, Soviet Union, China, Cuba and Venezuela are good examples, that the left are incapable of reconciling with. Capitalism is the pinnacle of hope for humanity which has brought most of the world out of poverty and advanced civilization with the freedom of ingenuity. What advancements has socialism brought besides stealing from others, such as China and Russia of which has brought nothing except for stealing from its own people and technology from other nations. The entire foundation of advanced civilization on earth is due to capitalism and the left is looking to erode and destroy it right out from under your nose while dangling the false hopes and promises that has never developed in the past, and one of the methods that they use to achieve their goal is inciting divisions and in doing so by means of using race as a tool puts the left in a box of being racist, they themselves are exactly what they accuse others of being.

The UK does no vetting of visitors leaving  the UK for the US. Screening is done by the US. B/F/M and J-visa checks are entirely done by the US. The UK does screen travelers, in that they record who is leaving. A bit like Laos when all the forum members do their border runs to keep staying in Thailand without a pesky visa.

All foreigners outside the US (maybe with the exception of North Korea?) have the right to REQUEST to submit an application.  They do NOT have the right to have it approved, nor do they have the right to demand embassy officials accept the forms if immigration from that country has been paused.

Most other countries seem to follow the same general rule.

EVERY American is not an immigrant.  Only those that immigrate are considered immigrants.  My great grandparents emigrated, legally, from Czechoslovakia back when Maria Theresa was a star, yet I still check the box marked "Native American" when given the opportunity.

So you always check the wrong box? You are not native american.. You are American only.

Native Americans are the American Indians only.

You have no idea what most HT-B holders are like.   They are marginally talented.

Since the creation of the program, the abuses of the program have been many, included vastly underpaying workers, laying off U.S. workers and replacing them with much lower-paid H-1B workers, forcing U.S. workers to train their H-1B replacements as a condition of receiving severance and unemployment insurance, and cheating the H-1B lottery to acquire additional visas. There are provisions in the H-1B law that are supposed to work together to prevent employers from underpaying H-1B workers or replacing their incumbent U.S. worker employees (i.e., U.S. citizens or permanent residents) with H-1B workers who are paid much less to do the same job. But employers are getting around those provisions by contracting with IT outsourcing firms, enabled by the U.S Department of Labor’s (DOL) flawed interpretation that puts outsourced H-1B workers in a different comparison pool than U.S. workers who are hired directly by the employer (see text box, ”How companies contract with H-1B outsourcing firms to evade H-1B visa rules that protect wages and working conditions,” later in the report). As a result, clear abuses that contradict the original intention of the H-1B program have largely not turned into what DOL considers actionable violations leading to sanctions.

I have no doubt that the H-1B visa is plagued with abuse. But your question was whether it was good or bad that America was being flooded with" Indians and Chinese".  So

India is the top country of birth for H-1B workers. Roughly three-quarters (73%) of H-1B workers whose applications were approved in fiscal 2023 were born in India. A majority of approvals every year since 2010 have gone to workers born in India.

China is the second-most common birthplace, accounting for 12% of H-1B workers approved in 2023.

No other birthplace accounted for even 2% of H-1B workers approved in 2023.

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/03/04/what-we-know-about-the-us-h-1b-visa-program/

So if in fact there is a "flood" it's mostly Indians, not Chinese.

And you completely ignore the fact that Indians and Chinese immigrants have punched way above their weight in entrepreneurship in the IT industry. So is that bad or good for America?

And this is to say nothing of their overrepresentation in cutting-edge scientific research.

The Trump administration's approach isn't really going to fix the abuse. There's a one-time fee which is large enough to deter small companies but not big companies. And it will still average out to less than it would cost to hire an American. If Trump was really serious about this, he would raise the floor of how much these immigrants could earn so that H-1B visas would only be viable if the recipient actually had the kind of skills in short supply in America.

Why are you posting such obviously stupid lies? Aren't most the people here retirees born in the 50s and 60s and literally lived through this. Go look at old photos of cities or watch old media and tell me how white it was.

America was always white with the exception of the freed slaves and they couldn't even fully vote until 1965.  Literally founded with a whites only immigration policy.

Post-1965 is a different country. There's Heritage America and New America but don't conflate them. USA in 2050 will be much closer to Brazil than European country and bear very little resemblance to heritage America.
