A heavily intoxicated driver caused a late-night scare after his car became stuck on railway tracks in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, early on 8 December 2025. Rescue workers and residents rushed to intervene amid fears a train could approach at any moment. The driver, 54-year-old Saman, was safely removed from the vehicle as teams struggled to manoeuvre the car off the tracks.

The incident occurred at 00:35 when the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue unit received a report of a drunk individual driving onto the tracks. Responders arrived to find a white Toyota Innova moving precariously along the rail line, prompting immediate efforts to flag the driver down. After stopping the vehicle, rescuers discovered the driver was severely intoxicated and that a cat had been run over and killed nearby.

Saman later told responders that he had been driving home when he noticed a motorcycle turning onto a side path and decided to follow it. He believed the route was passable, only to find his vehicle climbing onto the railway line and becoming stuck. Unable to move the car further, he relied on help from rescue workers and local residents who pushed and lifted the vehicle off the tracks with considerable difficulty.

Authorities said the vehicle remained beside the tracks and could not be driven away due to its condition and location. A tow truck will need to be dispatched to retrieve the car later in the morning. Rescue workers and locals left the scene once the immediate danger of a train collision had passed. Police took the driver to the station for testing and legal proceedings.

Key Takeaways

• A drunk driver became stranded on railway tracks in Nong Prue shortly after midnight on 8 December 2025.

• Rescue workers and residents removed the car from the tracks amid concerns a train could approach.

• The vehicle will be recovered later by tow truck after being temporarily placed in a safe area.

I just *hick* followed the turn signal on my dash and *hick* it blinked left,  damned, now I never get that licence

Luckily there are only about 1 or two trains per month and they travel at about 1KM/H. Probably push it faster than the local trains.

The photos look suspect.

Anyhow, this could be a big problem when Thailand rolls out the shinkansen-like high speed rail lines in the 2030s.

How did he manage to kill a cat?

'Police took the driver to the station for testing and legal proceedings.'  Another successful intervention by Pattaya Plod!

Nice

A great example of Thai hypocrisy. People rushed to the scene where he was stuck on the track to assist in case a train arrived fearing what might happen.

However watching a heavily intoxicated man get into his car and drive off home and the risk he poses to other vehicles, people or property doesn’t warrant a second thought.

He should be made an example of, but you know it won’t happen

This man had to have been crazy drunk to have driven his car onto the railroad tracks at that angle, since 95% of all railroad crossings are perpendicular to the tracks.

We kind of have an obligation to ourselves and our families to not get behind the wheel when we are ridiculously drunk. It's just very basic survival Instinct.

Every day it seems like people reinforce Darwin's theories.

Does the driver have a driving license?

In summary another moron.

Weeeell, after going to the police 'station', and getting a 'booking', he's probably now learned his lesson and is on the right 'track', never to get in a 'sleeper' state again, after being given an internet 'platform' to learn how to control his drinking at any 'buffet', which may result in the 'signal' he needs to 'halt' his 'level' of 'steaming' stupidity ....:drunk:

It's simple really , but too complicated for some . DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.

He tried to use a "motorbike track", not a vehicle crossing, hence the angle. It is a dangerous stretch of road with a multitude of crossings. Not that long ago a car was hit by a train on one of them.

Comments on DD are spot on.

They should have thrown him under the train just for running over the cat. part from that, give him 25 to life for being a stupid drunk.

Doesn't matter he couldn't drive anyway.
