A 40-year-old man suffered severe injuries just after midnight on 8 December 2025 after jumping from the upper floor of an abandoned building in Soi Pratamnak 7, Pattaya. Rescue teams from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and medical staff from Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital responded immediately after receiving the emergency call. The man, identified as Sompong Jamrasnaew from Khon Kaen, was found on a corrugated-metal roof at a construction site below.

Officials provided urgent first aid at the scene before transporting him to hospital. The impact from the fall on the metal roofing, shocked nearby workers who heard the loud crash. Authorities confirmed that his condition was critical when he was taken for further treatment.

Earlier the same day, the injured man had already jumped once from the building, sustaining only minor injuries. A construction worker who owns a room at the site said he had helped administer basic care during the first incident and then contacted the man’s mother to collect him. He added that the second jump occurred while he was sitting outside his room and was startled by the sudden noise from the impact on the metal roof.

The victim’s mother, 63-year-old Samrit Promkingkaew, told responders that her son had been distressed after a breakup with his girlfriend. She confirmed that he had jumped earlier at midday, resulting in the initial injuries. She waited anxiously at the scene, giving details to officials as they assisted her son.

TMN reported that authorities are expected to continue their investigation into circumstances surrounding both jumps. Additional safety checks at the abandoned site may be carried out to reduce future risks. Officials will monitor the man’s condition as he receives treatment at hospital.

Most people don't have an epiphany after a suicide attempt.

Needs to find a higher building!

You need at least 7 floors. 2 or 3 floors will just cause severe injuries.

Do you mean Any Empathy?

It never ceases to amaze me that rather than simply bow out and admit that the relationship is not working, and find another woman to spend time with, or even do some solo time, guys resort to these rather ridiculous measures. Over a broken heart? Or was he simply spurned? If it was the latter I could certainly understand why she said enough.

I've always said that if you're going to try to kill yourself just make sure you're successful at it, because there's nothing worse than attempting suicide and ending up with a debilitating and very humiliating injury instead.

Plenty more fish in the sea .... must not be a saying in Thailand,

just hope he gets well and realises no woman is worth it ,if you

want to get over it, throw her off ,OK you will be in prison but not

hurt.

Oh please , a man has been injured ,it's time you showed empathy

Surely that's not too much to ask from you ?!

They need some help to solve the problems in their brains. Mental issues is not easy to fix, especially not in Thailand.

I have no idea what you're getting at.

People who attempt suicide often feel like failures in life. When an attempt fails, they feel even worse, like "I can't even get this right".  Some have an epiphany and seek the help they need, but many go on and finish the deed at a later date.

Sorry, we are getting the words Epiphany (a realisation) and empathy (sharing another's feeling.

I think either word could apply in this situation, he had an Epiphany not to kill himself, while you had the Empathy to understand him.
