Thai to English translation at MFA

Featured Replies

Are there official aproved translators in the Department of Consular Affairs, 123 Chaeng Watthana Rd, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Bangkok 10210, Thailand.

I need my freedom to marry documents translated for an appointment with the MFA.

I have read some people offer translations get their documents refused due to mistakes.

There were certainly translators lurking around there when I needed to obtain DCA's endorsement of my British Embassy affirmation of freedom to marry document back in 2009, but I somehow doubt whether they come under the officially approved category (or, indeed, whether any translator, wherever they may be located, is accorded this endorsement by the DCA). We did use one of them, though, and we found it a reasonably straightforward (if somewhat tedious) process to get the translator in question  to incorporate whole strings of ultra-pernickity points raised by the DCA into a succession of revised versions until, finally, we were able to come up with one to which the DCA were prepared to affix their endorsement stamp.

My recommendation to you, therefore, would be to use one of these DCA translators - unless you know of a reliable one in your neighbourhood who would be prepared to accompany you to the DCA in order to incorporate the ultra-fussy points which they will, I think, inevitably raise on whatever version is presented to them initially (if my 2009 experience is typical).

Thank you.

It's been 15 years, but yes. As I recall they have small shops about or are just lurking for customers. I had mine done there.
