A 47-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot by his former wife during an intrusion at her home in Bang Pa-In district, Ayutthaya, on 11 December 2025 at around 10:00. Police and rescue teams arrived to find the man, identified as Mr Kan, lying inside the property with a gunshot wound that entered his back and exited through his chest. The former wife, Ms Supranee, 51, surrendered at the scene and handed over a .38 handgun, stating she fired because she feared for her safety.

According to investigators, officers from Bang Pa-In Police Station, led by Pol Lt Col Thaworn Saengsai and Pol Col Phiphop Naputra, responded with rescue personnel from Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Association after receiving reports of a shooting. They found a knife on the floor and confirmed the handgun had been fired twice. Mr Kan was transported to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital for urgent treatment.

Ms Supranee told police that her former husband climbed over the fence, shouting and carrying a knife, before entering the home and rummaging through belongings while attempting to pry open doors and windows. She said she feared immediate harm, citing a long history of threats, property damage and previous incidents in which he allegedly threatened to burn down the house. She explained that she legally owned the firearm and kept it for protection due to repeated disturbances that had prompted multiple calls to the police.

Mr Kan, while injured, stated that he had come to retrieve personal items and decided to climb into the property when he found the house locked. He said the pair began arguing before Ms Supranee fired one warning shot, followed by another that struck him. Rescue workers said they found him collapsed at the gate, calling for help while the house remained locked until Ms Supranee provided the key.

Witness accounts suggest the couple had separated in May after frequent conflicts, including previous police reports and property damage. Neighbours and family members had reportedly advised Ms Supranee to move elsewhere for safety, but she said she had nowhere else to go. She also stated that the man had previously lived with another woman before returning and causing repeated disturbances.

Police said the case involves long-standing domestic issues, noting that patrol officers had responded to similar incidents at the address several times. Pol Col Phiphop confirmed that evidence collection is under way, including a review of CCTV footage and forensic examination of the firearm and knife. He added that investigators must ensure fairness to both parties as the inquiry continues.

Khoasod reported that authorities will now rely on forensic results, witness testimony and CCTV footage to determine whether the shooting qualifies as self-defence under the law. Police will interview both parties further once the injured man’s condition stabilises. A final decision on charges will be made after all evidence is evaluated.

Key Takeaways

• Police are investigating whether the shooting constitutes self-defence after the former husband allegedly entered the home armed with a knife.

• The couple had a documented history of conflicts that had prompted multiple police interventions.

• Forensic analysis and CCTV footage will guide the legal determination in the coming days.

Remarkable. I have read so many articles in which rejected blokes kill their ex-girlfriends and ex-wives here.

I think this is the first time I have read an article in which the tables were turned and the would-be murderer gets murdered.
