US Man Detained After Taking Photos Near Military Airport

Featured Replies

It would be interesting to know where he flew in from, or which land border he entered by.

The guy is a fake. He has nothing to do with the CIA.

Reason being why would you need a CIA agent to take photos of a military airport and the planes Thailand has?

US Satellites can give you just as good and if not better, than a picture taken whilst there? As far as Thailand’s aircraft they certainly are no where near the top of the list of the worlds best?

However if this guy was employed by Cambodia then that's a different story. May I suggest a firing squad if so, based on he maybe a spy.😁

Wandering around near a military air base on heightened security close to a conflict zone taking pictures suggests he’s really <deleted> stupid. After hiding out in a rest room and refusing access to his phone only raises suspicions of his real motive for bring there. Imagine he did that back in the US, you think he’d get treated the same, hell no. He certainly wouldn’t get dealt in the same way as here. I think there’s more about this yet to come.

If it turns out he is with the CIA then 20 years for spying.

Think about it. Thailand’s military has been supported and a defacto ally since post WWII. Thailand’s aircraft consist of a lot of US F16s and Vietnam era Huey helicopters. What could he have been photographing? Thailand has no secrets from the US. The US doesn’t need to use the CIA to know what’s going on here. Espionage in 2025 is 99.9% electronic, between satellites and cyberspace. If they wanted photos they could easily use a tiny undetectable drone and get closer than any person could. But with today’s satellites they could spy on your hemorrhoids if they wanted to. And lastly, why would the US care what happens between Thailand, a silly little micro power, and its neighbors? None of it could possibly have any effect on the US, politically or otherwise. The only concern the US has had with Thailand are human rights concerns with journalists who “defame” Thailand. This guy MIGHT have been a journalist, or some guy with a youtube channel looking for content. The fact that he was easily caught shows he doesn’t have a clue about things here. The CIA has better things to do such as in the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, China, Taiwan, and the drug cartels. My OPINION is he’s just another dumba$$ farang who screwed up.

I have filmed on Thai military facilities. To do so, I submitted a request, waited for approval, made an appointment, and then received very helpful assistance from air force officers during the filming. Have done the same elsewhere and in Laos. Have also filmed at historical sites in both countries. Same process, except you pay a filming fee.

Of course he would now....he's already  deleted the photos in the bathroom......not hard to figure out!

Just because you delete, doesn't mean they are really deleted, there is a folder for delketed photos that will keep them for 30 days, unless you go into that folder and "delete forever" they are still there...........Hmmmmm  since when can sonene refuse the RTB to look into their phone if he/she is being detained........boy times have changed!!

Is that the D J Audits guy again causing a nuisance

There are also apps that automatically store photos.

Not all spying is done through electronics and cyberspace.  Pictures taken of an airfield facility and locations on it are very useful for targeting drones when you don't have satellite footage.

You will be refused entry in the US if you don't allow your phone to be searched. Kick him out.

Waterboard him till he squeals, torture is still legal here...

what a jerk ! But when I read his nationality... not surprised !

It surprised me.He doesn’t look fat enough to be a yank.

Eh, he was taking pics of the jets. Nothing illegal here.

Or just innocence or plain stupidity?

His actions of hiding in a public toilet, refusing to communicate, refusing to unlock his phone and arriving on the 15th and taking his aircraft pictures on the 16th suggest something else!✈️🙄

Makes you wonder what was going on.

Yeah this person was not tht bright.  There are ways of doing it and running, and hiding is not the way.  Smarter ting would hve been he ws interested in the helicopters and wanted to take pictures.  BUT stay where you were, do not walk away, and definitely do not hide.

He will spend a fair amount of time in jail, and then the military will have its way.

Military units do not like people sneaking around taking pictures. They also have the right to confiscate the cameras and cards.

even diplomatic immunity does not absolve you.

An American spying for Cambodia in Surin? What a ridiculous claim!

And sunglasses!!

Exactly! What spy would wear "military style" sunglasses and cap? Looks like a tempest in a teapot to me.

That qualifies as an asset. ?

Evidently, the "military style baseball cap" raised suspicions...note to self, remember to destroy my camo baseball cap.
