I’ll settle in Thailand in three years’ time.

 

I’ll be interested in some female company but won’t be interested to get “handcuffed” or “tied down” too early.

 

During my first one, two or three years in Thailand, I’d possibly like to travel around to different parts of the country. I might try to learn a bit the Thai language (if doable).

 

I might try to date women through DATING sites or making connections in the city. 

 

At the beginning, I don’t want to run the risk to enter a toxic relationship. I’d like to date but then take much time… drawing out the process over months to get to know the culture and the women there.

 

Like, I can go to the restaurant with her, have a coffee … see her twice a week for some time. Time would help me figure out better the kind of person, her character and emotional reactions and connection.

It would allow me time to feel out her expectations and potential as a partner.

 

Questions: 

• does it seem realistic to have occasional sex, without committing (e.g.: at a hotel),
• does it seem realistic to date 2 or 3 girls over the same period of time, without committing ? … That would help making life choices over time because time is precious. It would help compare personalities, potentials without losing too much time,
• Should I give my phone, address or only my LINE? How do you proceed?

 

When one settles in a new country, it seems only reasonable not to rush things.

It’s reasonable to take one’s time… not to rush… especially on a foreign land and in a vastly different culture,

I do it. Work Thai Friendly and Tinder.

 

But Thai friendly is where you will find what you want faster. Particularly if you are willing to pay a small honorarium.

It's realistic, but it would be extremely time consuming to line up two solid, ongoing potentials. I'm 73, 'been plugging away at it for a year.

 

Right now, I have to pick between two really fine women for a LT relationship.

 

After a year. But I want rational monogamy with freedom to travel, which is also hard to find.

 

Skip meetups, it's considered to be bad manners to approach women there.

 

It's a socializing vehicle, not a dating funnel.

I found it very difficult to find decent women after I hit 46, so I decided to settle. The older you are the more questions they ask and becomes much harder to pass their sniff test. Thai women are not stupid. The ones that play stupid want your money.

Lots of money, lots of money to lose and no morals. Go for it. Be warned it' can be a dangerous game to play.

Agree 100%. I am dating women above 55.

If anything, the feedback has been pretty mild. Thailand used to be an absolute wild ride for dating before the.... flu.... things were not easy, but at least they were  exciting. Afterward, it feels like the country went full globalist, and now everything is way harder. Imagine all the immigrants back home taking your jobs. Same now with Indians, Chinese and Arabs in Thailand.

I see… I’m not much aware of how the situation has evolved since the COVID crisis. I hope it’s still a good country to live in. Moving from one country to another can be a recipe to stay curious and chase boredom, imo. Life is cheaper than in Europe as well and I believe that with a monthly 65K baths pension, my standard of living might be a bit better.

 

I’ll try to check out more the information about Thailand since after COVID,
