January 5Jan 5 I'm installing my solar hardware in the garage and it is a very humid place in the dry season. All the tools, metal, go rusty with surface rust.Should I install a small aircon in the room for the batteries and inverter?Room is about 3 x 2m.ALSOCan I get PEA information in English about home solar specs. from their website.I don't know if I will be eligible for their solar power biback scheme as my inverter is 20kW ( can I call it a 10kW plus 10kW system). If the biback is B2.2 per unit and I have 3 phase, does that mean I get B6.6 if I sell back 3 phases of 1 unit each.
January 5Jan 5 If your battery and inverter room is fully enclosed, the first option needs to be ventilation. In my installation, for example my inverter, vents out through a hole in the wall and new air comes in through a hole in the door. Both holes are covered with 1mm SS mesh to prevent ingress from uninvited guests. This helps a lot with temperature and humidity.Since I upgraded my solar panels/combiner boxes some time ago, I've noticed a small increase in temperature from the charge controllers which can get hot to touch.I am considering adding some dedicated ventilation for them but overall the room temperature rarely increases above 30°C which is OK for my batteries.
January 5Jan 5 Yeah, start with ventilation.@carlyai do you keep your pool chemicals in there too?? Even in sealed cotainers they can cause unwanted corrosion. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
January 5Jan 5 Author Thanks for the reply. At the moment the room has a window and 1 door but 2 doorways.Maybe I should try with a large fan first and monitor the temp. with my inferred monitor. The inverter is mounted only 50 cm from the ceiling and insulated metal roof46 minutes ago, Crossy said:Yeah, start with ventilation.@carlyai do you keep your pool chemicals in there too?? I got to know this from working on chlorine dispensing equipment for Thames Water. Couldn't go near it without having a gas mask at the ready.
