Fuse Amps

Featured Replies

I have been using this extension lead for a few years , and the fuse has blown.

I know how to spell electric but that is as far as my knowledge of electricity goes.

The fuse I need to replace is a glass one 20mm long.

I have seen them about but with different amps , and I don't know which amps I need.

The extension is used for ironing , house hold fan and charging phone / Ipad , though never at the same time.
I read if I got too higher of an amp fuse I could burn the cable and too low would just blow the fuse.

The are no markings on the extension or the fuse.

Any suggestions please

The fuse should might be marked on the metal end cap. These things usually have a 10A fuse.

BUT

With no earth/ground continuity (it only has a 2-pin plug) I wouldn't be using it for an iron!

For that matter I wouldn't trust these with anything more powerful than a fan.

IMHO you should go out and buy a decent lead with a 3-pin plug and cable.

Where is a gum wrapper when you need one

I knew we had one somewhere.

The info you need is on the label on the back.

1mmsq., 2500Watt, and 10 Amp. As has been said above.

Strangely all written in text on the label not tabulated in an engineering way. I used the Translate function on my phone.

As I put in my original post " The are no markings on the extension or the fuse. "

Thank you for your reply though.
