They do. We are all required to show we are finacially able to support ourselves here.

And then you either starve or go back home if it ends up (for whatever reason) that you can't support yourself in Thailand. In the USA, they go on the dole.

I didn't think anybody was interested in tourism in the US,based on:

Illegal arrests.

Incarcerstion of visitors/tourists.

5 years of social media inspection

Gun violence

USA is 3rd most visited country, behind France and Spain.

Not so strangely, we still make 2x the $$$ that those Cheap Charlie EU countries attract. People are willing to pay more for a premium experience.

The way things are going under the conmans rule, no one wants to go to the USA anyway. No real loss to anyone until the govt changes.

  • They're taking a timeout to evaluate why so many approved visa candidates end up on the dole when they come to the USA. Sounds reasonable to me. Sounds like the vetting process hasn't been working v

  • How many Americans are going on the dole in Thailand? Here's the key, from the OP: aiming to prevent the entry of individuals deemed likely to become a public charge.

Will this affect the usage of previously granted visas?

I wouldn't think so, but...

I'm just curious to work out ....with all these changes that are happening under Trump are they coming from his head or he has a team of people manipulating him?

Yeah, Tell that to the millions of illegal immigrants in America that are screaming to stay, or the millions that apply for visas or citizenship.

Excuse me? You do know many countries in Western Europe have high average salaries, some of which have higher average salaries than the US? If you are going to try and link statistics then at least be on point. Otherwise I could be very flippant about the state of US cities. I'm not even thinking about going to Detroit, Baltimore and even as painful as it sounds New York due to safety (not exactly a 'premium experience').

That may not be the issue. Thailand could revoke the 60-day Tourist Visa for US Passport holders as a favored nation.

Donald the Barbarian smites Asia and Africa.

Black, Brown, and other non-white immigrants are no longer welcome in the USA.

Most legitimate US tourists wouldn't be here for more than a couple of weeks.

The fidiot post I was relying to claimed that tourists weren't interested in going to the USA. Not only is it the 3rd most visited country on the planet, it takes in twice as much sweaty tourist money as any other country, including France and Spain. People generally don't willingly pay extra if they aren't getting a premium experience.

Are you saying that a correlation has been found between skin color and a burden on society?

They could do that. But it would only hurt Thailand. I hear Vietnam is nice...

(Though I'm typing this from Bangkok Chinatown, where I'm enjoying a visa exempt entry)

The manipulating group was the DNC under Biden. TRUMp is taling to people that are not part of the government or living inthe bubble. He is looking at the states like Minnesota and California and making the necessary changes.

He is running the government as he did with everything else, he is listening but making ht final decision.

Considering that gas is the lowest it has beenin a long time, jobs are coming back, and people are investing money in the country along with giving allyou guys that are here 2k just because he has saved that muchmoney in the government spending.

Would the average American want benefits to assist them, or to assist illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. and now want to have everything given to them and still be allowed to live life like they were in their old country, with the corruption that is there?

Actually apart from the Ukraine and Russia ( neither of whom are in the top 5) it's all countries from Latin America and Asia, predominately Mexico, China, India etc. Don't worry about these conservatives who have been neutered. You talk to me and I will sort you out. Anything else you want to say?

Thailand would be annexed by Donnie.

Then the Gulf of Thailand would also be renamed the Gulf of America.

Gulf of Trump more appealing..

You are looking at domestic rates also. Yes of course the US would lead due to the population size and high earnings.

Yep, just like Greenland....Donnie wants to expand its dome

Are we even talking about the same thing?

What do population size and high earnings have to do with the number of foreign tourists coming to the USA and how much they spend?

Well if Thailand reciprocates and makes age / weight (obesity) a requirement for visa renewals

They should😉

Another very sad day for the US. Can you list all of Trump's enemies? You will need a lot of time, paper and ink -- he is the #1 HATER of all time. He has systematically crippled and/or removed all the policies that have made America a great country, beginning with hard working immigrants. No longer "the land of the free" -- America is the land of ICE, a private militia catering to Trump and his SS Nazi stooge, Steven Miller. Let's see what happens at election time . . . martial law, cancel elections, lawless enforcement agents roaming the streets. Venezuela, Greenland, Canada, Iran, NATO, US universities, News media, crypto, resorts and hotels, Qatar plane, the list is too long for this post. We are watching 200 years of American history being intentionally dismantled.

My wife (marriage not registered but could be if needed ) needs to start the visa process and hope this won't complicate things. She isn't wealthy but has multiple properties and rental income (15-25k). Also has 1-2 million in the bank. She is in great health with no children and looks like a respectable 50+ ( biased I know ). I'm also financially stable but it is my understanding that my situation isn't a concern in regards to her visa.

Anybody out there have an opinion on the above? What issues might I expect?

Cambodia

Indonesia

Laos

Myanmar

Philippines

Thailand

Vietnam

Ya except its not just the US...Japan and Korea have been known to reject Thai arrivals at the airport, especially women.

Have you seen Thai's lately, they are inflating at a pretty good clip.

So are you telling me per day, per international tourist, people are spending on average more in the US than say Switzerland or Monaco? Even Singapore or Hong Kong? I find that hard to believe, but not unbelievable. It's not something I would be adamant on.

Many of us are hoping that this won't affect spousal visas. When she applied previously she got a 10-year multiple entry and all they were interested in seeing was my passport, to determine that I travel back and forth from Thailand to the US frequently. Hopefully that will remain the same.

Any info anyone might have would be helpful.

This has just been announced. I don’t think anyone has any info other than what is stated in the OP or other news articles

Well, if you think about it, given the climate there, who in their right mind would want to go to the US? You'll get kidnapped off the street or even shot by the US gestapo masked ICE thugs, and you'll be subject to racist attacks by the general MAGA populace. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there for any reason until the current republican junta is long gone. It's been a hostile place for foreigners for over a decade. Yes, I'm from the US, I left while the republicans were ramping up their agenda 13 years ago. Even under Obama, who was a decent man, harsh republican immigrant policies were causing harm to people and families.

Well what do tourists have to do with it? This is about immigrants, not tourists

Thailand can reciprocate with 3 million money in bank fot USA retirement visa extensions

You are more likely to get shot by a repeat criminal in a Progressive run city then you are by ICE, but please go for the dramatic BS dribble.
