US Suspends Immigrant Visa Processing for Thailand

Considering the completely incredible idiotic statements emanating from the current American administration concerning blatant failures in its own systems . The concerning invasive checks now being carried out by this administration and the also concerning higher levels of Governmental harassment and violence directed towards the general population, no sane intelligent person would want to go to the USA unless they had to

The way things are going under the conmans rule, no one wants to go to the USA anyway. No real loss to anyone until the govt changes.

  • They're taking a timeout to evaluate why so many approved visa candidates end up on the dole when they come to the USA. Sounds reasonable to me. Sounds like the vetting process hasn't been working v

  • How many Americans are going on the dole in Thailand? Here's the key, from the OP: aiming to prevent the entry of individuals deemed likely to become a public charge.

They do. We are all required to show we are finacially able to support ourselves here.

Thailand doesn't have a ban, they check finances. Would have thought the USA does that too.

It says above for immigrant visas they have suspended processing. If you intend to take your wife to USA to immigrate, then the article explains it, it isn’t going to happen.

It mentions nothing of tourism visas.

An article I read said the ban did not apply to tourist visas.

Another very sad day for the US. Can you list all of Trump's enemies? You will need a lot of time, paper and ink -- he is the #1 HATER of all time. He has systematically crippled and/or removed all the policies that have made America a great country, beginning with hard working immigrants. No longer "the land of the free" -- America is the land of ICE, a private militia catering to Trump and his SS Nazi stooge, Steven Miller. Let's see what happens at election time . . . martial law, cancel elections, lawless enforcement agents roaming the streets. Venezuela, Greenland, Canada, Iran, NATO, US universities, News media, crypto, resorts and hotels, Qatar plane, the list is too long for this post. We are watching 200 years of American history being intentionally dismantled.

Thailand aside for a moment, as the US announcement to suspend visitor visas affects 75 countries, not just Thailand. Some of those nations are playing in the FIFA World Cup, and as it is still 5 months away many will just be buying tickets now and would have been planning to apply for visitor's visas. Common sense would suggest those people will not buy tickets now and of course the number of foreign attendance in the U.S.-hosted World Cup matches will diminish significantly. Only a smaller fraction of the matches are being played in Canada and Mexico. I wonder if FIFA will move some of the matches out of the US to those countries? And before anyone says 'don't worry Americans will fill the empty seats' - I doubt it. If you're not aware, the ticket prices are astronomical. So why would Fred, Shirly and their two kids pay 8 or 10 grand to travel 1 or 2 States away to watch 2 countries they know nothing about play a Group H qualifying match (or whatever)? This is a huge money-losing risk for FIFA World Cup.

Dudes who are getting hitched and want to take back their brides. Well, it's not going to be "i am lob you long time' much longer. Women become changed when going to the US anyway.. listening to other women on how to game the system, divorce court, take half and run, start dissing and talking back to the man of the house and on and on and on. Western feminaziism is poison.

As for Thai men who needed to go to the US, oh well. Find other business to do. Or meet your business associates in Mexico half way.

The US embassy wont be as busy anymore with a 10' stack of applications.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently proposed significant new vetting for tourists, particularly those from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries,

requiring applicants to submit social media handles (past 5 years),email/phone numbers (past 5-10 years),family info, and potentially biometrics (facial/fingerprints)via an ESTA app, alongside existing data, for enhanced security screening before entry, a shift from less-intensive ESTA to more-detailed vetting. This is from Google.

Who in their right mind wants to visit America now. Hawaii has lost most of its Japanese tourism due to Trump administration strong arm using ICE

I’d never submit that data just visit US. I don’t know for sure but I’m sure it’ll be stored in some kind of database

Well what do tourists have to do with it? This is about immigrants, not tourists

Ask The guy whose post I was responding to. The post that claimed no international tourists want to come to the USA.

I would love to see Thai immigration to a tit for tat response. Let the yanks who thinks the sun shine out of his butt go back and find out just what a great job he’s doing in ruining their country first hand.

they should better start to do similar in western Europe 🇪🇺 😁 hehe !

Thailand should immediately revoke visa exempt travel for US passports.

I hope after the assessment is over that the US implements the exact same treatment the Thai's put us through, 90 day reports, 2 inch thick of paper every year, photos, TM30's, secured bank accounts, etc.

I don't often chime in , but this gets my goat. Thailand has been a steadfast ally if America for far too many years to be insulted in this manner.

You are more likely to get shot by a repeat criminal in a Progressive run city then you are by ICE, but please go for the dramatic BS dribble.

The vast majority of mass shootings in the US are perpetrated by conservative folks. So, stop with your disinformation campaign already.

Trump holds his cult together using grievance. It’s all about blaming others. Foreigners and minorities (like trans people) are easy targets to blame all their problems on.

Yeah, I am sure all those repeat robberies with guns are committed by out of control conservatives. Talk about delusional.

This was on Facebook — I agree. ICE under POTUS orders Not looking for dangerous felons — they are working to fill a Quota set by Kristy Noem. So grabbing Moms and Kids and anybody they can. Maybe this is not right place to post this but sharing

Something I read online that I feel needs be said and shared. Apologize for caps

IF YOU ARE USING UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS' TAX RECORDS TO FIND AND KIDNAP THEM, THEN IT WAS NEVER ABOUT THEM PAYING TAXES

IF YOU ARE SHOWING UP AT THEIR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. THEN IT WAS NEVER ABOUT THEM NOT WORKING

IF YOU ARE SHOWING UP AT COURTHOUSES THEN IT WAS NEVER ABOUT GETTING THEM TO "DO IT THE RIGHT WAY

IF YOU ARE KIDNAPPING CHILDREN THEN IT WAS NEVER ABOUT CRIMINALS

IF YOU'RE REFUSING TO GIVE THEM DUE PROCESS ThEN it was never aBOUt tHE CONSTITUTION.

if you're SPendING BILLIONS TO DO THIS then it was never aBout tHE ECONOMY.

ANd if YoU'rE DOING ALL THIS IN THE NAME OF A 34 TIME CONVICTED FELON. THEN IT WAS NEVER ABOUT FOLLOWING THE LAW

What if Thailand does the same?

Stop tourism, not as long as my ass points to ground

You have to look at the list of countries that are affected to understand why. It is simple, so simple. If you look at the list it shows the affected countries are ones who USA deems dangerous or who they have a conflict with. As far as Thailand is concerned, both Cambodia and Thailand are on the list due to their conflict, which the USA has tried to help, but the conflict between countries continue. Stop the conflict off the list.

Not in Minneapolis. 67% of ALL shooting there are by ICE.

I don’t give a stuff what you hope happens in the US because I have no intention of visiting it, or living there. If you’re not happy adhering to the immigration requirements here maybe it’s time you move on. Your choice.

My wife (marriage not registered but could be if needed ) needs to start the visa process and hope this won't complicate things. She isn't wealthy but has multiple properties and rental income (15-25k). Also has 1-2 million in the bank. She is in great health with no children and looks like a respectable 50+ ( biased I know ). I'm also financially stable but it is my understanding that my situation isn't a concern in regards to her visa.

Anybody out there have an opinion on the above? What issues might I expect?

just as a referece point it took me over 8 months with a $$$ high profile lawyer to get a K1 visa done and that was about 18years ago

your situation she has $$$ and strong ties to return puts you in a favorable position .. ..just a matter of when they resume allowing applications to be processed ,.. looks like a dead stop right now

Thanks for the input. I should have read the OP more closely and my concern is a tourist visa.

Trump is the #1 victim in America. The degree to which he moans, groans, complains and plays the wounded victim is downright shameful and not something real men do. He is a wimp and a clown.
