Phuket police have fined two French tourists after a video showing an indecent act on a tuk-tuk circulated widely on social media, prompting public concern about behaviour in a major tourist area. The incident occurred on Patong Hill and led to swift police action. Authorities said the case was settled after the suspects admitted the offence and paid fines.

The clip, shared online on 30 January 2026, appeared to show two foreign tourists engaging in sexual activity while travelling on a Phuket-registered tuk-tuk. Online reactions focused on public decency and respect for local laws.

Kathu police said they received photographs and information from a concerned citizen shortly after the video began circulating. The materials showed the tourists undressing and committing an indecent act in public view. Officers opened an investigation the same day.

Police first questioned the tuk-tuk driver, identified as Kittisak Phonbamrung. He told officers he had transported the tourists over Patong Hill and later dropped them off at a hotel in Ratsada subdistrict, Mueang district. This information helped police trace the suspects.

On 31 January 2026, officers located the two individuals and brought them in for questioning. They were identified as Valentine Celine Johanne and Crouzier Wesley Franck, both French nationals. Police confirmed that both were tourists visiting Phuket.

The pair were charged with committing an indecent act in public by exposing their bodies or engaging in lewd behaviour. During the investigation, both admitted the offence. They requested to pay a fine to settle the case. Police fined each tourist 5,000 baht, officials said. After payment, the matter was resolved under applicable legal procedures.

The case has highlighted ongoing concerns among authorities about tourist conduct in public spaces. Police reiterated that actions deemed indecent under Thai law can lead to penalties regardless of nationality. Officials noted that enforcement aims to protect public order and the reputation of tourist destinations.

Khoasod reported that police said they would continue monitoring and responding to reports of inappropriate behaviour. The incident has also renewed calls for visitors to familiarise themselves with local laws and cultural expectations.

Key Takeaways

• Two French tourists were fined 5,000 baht each for an indecent act on a Phuket tuk-tuk.

• The case followed the circulation of a video online on 30 January 2026 showing the incident on Patong Hill.

• Police settled the matter after both suspects admitted the offence and paid fines on 31 January 2026.

The following motorist seems to think it better to post this sort of thing on social media than report it to the police. This seems to be the normal reaction by 21st century "Netizens" making them just as complicit..

The police are lazy,... If someone turns up to a police station with such a video...

The response is "so what !!, one one got hurt !!"...

..Its only when such videos go viral on social media and 'someone' higher-up becomes upset that the outrage filters down to the apathetic police who are then encouraged to respond...

It's getting to be the norm here all this talk about moral decency plus affecting the nice image of Thailand as a great family tourist destination world wide

Come on Pattaya and Phuket are well known as the sin capitals of the world that's why people come here sex bars ect

While I might agree when it comes to Pattaya, Phuket has descended into a land of nothingness, when it comes to the industry. It's such a pale shadow of its former self, it's ridiculously hard to find an attractive woman at a bar, a go-go, or a massage shop, most are not pretty and many are large and old, and the prices that they're quoting are beyond ridiculous.

Phuket is off completely off the list for any serious monger or single guy. It is a has been island.

There's nothing wrong with looking, I have a lot of single friends and I often accompany them on their quest for action, and it's quite a bit of fun. Participation is not required in order to enjoy the experience. But go ahead and be judgmental if it makes you happy.

Oh la la! Those Frenchies trying to uphold their legacy as a nation of great lovers...

i am wondering why people do things here in Thailand they never do in their home country... Getr drunk, pee in the sea, no problem but this is just not done.....

They don't have tuk-tuks in France!

Peeing in the sea is better than peeing on the beach. It's all saltwater & doesn't stink.

Wish I'd thought of <removed> in a tuk-tuk. I certainly had lots of opportunity!

I am here because I had a lack of dignity or moral standards! Not to mention those sexual urges--whoo hoo! Worked out for me, I'm still a morally degraded pervert. Give me more, more, I'm still not satisfied!

Well to that person I retort. Imagine parents sitting in a tuk tuk behind the brothel tuk tuk and have young children with them. Would you not agree it is definitely not good for family tourism as the Thai Tourist Dept. keeps trying to make us believe it's a family friendly place?

When they say that I keep thinking they are pulling my middle leg!

OMG! Think of the children!

What utter nonsense, half a million, try and check simple logic before you write such nonsense.

The population of Phuket is about 400,000 in total and the vast majority are Thais.

Idiots believed anything they read on the internet or see on ArseBook etc.

O.K., quarter million. Point being Phuket has gone hugely downhill since the invasion. Poor behavior, traffic nightmare.

Unless of course you live behind gates in Kathu and venture out only to go to Central, then I suppose you don't care.

Around 500 "officially" (which means actually way more "unofficial" ones). And many nudist beaches (many of them "swinging" places themselves). (ps : although we don't have tuk tuks yet, as i know of ;)

You mean I live like the rest of the residents do as we can not party all night every night, and we do not live in the tourist areas which are only a small amount of the total area.

Yes the traffic in Kathu, Kathu is not too bad, I don't see any bad behaviour or big invasion unless you count the majority of Thais who live here as having invaded themselves.😀

Of the 350 houses in this gated community 98% are Thais, one Russian family I think.

And no there is no quarter of a million Russians either.

I had a good drink and a good fun with a Russian woman at a BBQ party just a few nights ago, very nice educated well to do people as far as I have seen over the last few years. Not a tattoo or bar girl anywhere near them.

I wish people would have more sense and should gather their opinions in person instead of reading ArseBook and other so called social media nonsense, don't you realise it is all nonsense?

Phuket has gone up, you should see the up market shops and the rest of the new stuff built here.

It is reassuring expensive which keeps the riff riff out.

I do suspect the number of cars do seem too much for the many farangs living up in cheapo backwards Isaan, the most uneducated part of the country, in a village at the back of the beyond but for me being from the South East of England the traffic is normal.

The reason a lot of places do not have traffic is because no one wants to go there, but I suppose those places are OK for the poorer farangs.

I bet thier parents would be so proud! They even had their pictures in the media - and it only cost them $5000 baht.

Well for starters we don't know what time the incident happened, yes it's dark but it could still be early so there could be parents out with their kids and also maybe it isn't hurting anyone but why can't they just wait till they get back to their rooms. They need to get a grip. surely they can keep their hands to themselves for a bit and wait till they're back at the hotel and stop acting like a couple of dogs on heat.

French Couple Faces Deportation After tuk tuk Incident in Phuket

A French couple is set to be deported from Thailand following their arrest for engaging in a sexual act on a tuk tuk in Phuket. The incident occurred on January 29 and was caught on video by a Thai motorist. The footage, showing the couple undressing and engaging in the act, was shared online, quickly going viral and resulting in public outrage.

The video sparked immediate backlash from Thai citizens, who criticized the pair for disrespecting Thai cultural norms and harming Phuket’s reputation as a family-friendly destination. The Kathu Police Station began an investigation to identify the couple, leading to the arrest of the two French nationals, Wesley and Valen, at a hotel in the Thalang district on February 2.

Charged under Section 388 of the Criminal Law for committing an obscene act in public, the couple was fined up to 5,000 baht. Following their arrest, local immigration officials acted swiftly by revoking their visas and adding them to Thailand’s immigration blacklist, confirming their upcoming deportation.

The incident has reopened discussions on the effectiveness of handling such cases involving foreign tourists. While several similar occurrences have been reported, many of those involved have reportedly left the country without any legal repercussions. In a comparable case last December, a Russian couple was charged with a similar offense in Pattaya, though they did not face deportation or blacklisting.

Thai authorities hope the current case reinforces their stance on maintaining public decency, particularly in popular tourist areas. They continue to emphasize respecting local customs and laws while visiting the country, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • A French couple will be deported for public indecency in Phuket.

  • Public criticism has heightened due to the tourism impact concerned citizens expressed.

  • Authorities are reinforcing stricter consequences to uphold cultural norms.

People with any integrity and decency should be respectful when visiting a foreign country not act like total Trash.

They are getting what people who are so inconsiderate of others cultures deserve.

Brainless twits who think they can do whatever they want in

someone else's country. They did the deed and now they will
