Retirement Visa extension documents question

Featured Replies

Greetings everyone,

I just wanted to ask what the list of documents are needed for retirement visa extension. My dad's visa is going to expire next month so we want to go and extend, the immigration here where I am is not particularly friendly for asking questions especially if they are busy.

Has anything changed from last year? I know that probably can depend on different IM office.

This is the ones I remember last time:

  1. Passport copies all relevant pages signed

  2. Statement from last visa extension to the day of renewal and a bank letter all issues on the same day of the extension.

  3. Photos

  4. 90 days report

  5. Now about rental agreement, my dad lives with me and my wife and of course we won't charge him rent that would be stupid, so he doesn't have one. So last time they asked me and I tried to explain we do not have it. What did work (kind of) was my wife's ID card signed by her and blue book in her name.

  6. Some document they gave me last time that needs signing that acknowledges rules and regulations.

  7. Visa application form.

  8. TM 30 I think (but they can print it out usually)

I think that was it last time, but I am not sure. Google AI says map of where the house is though I do not remember that being asked. Am I missing anything? Thank you for the info.

You are better off directly contacting the immigration office you will be using, as requirements change. Most will have a handout listing the current requirements.

I think he knows that and would but......

Phayao immigration from previous threads.

Unfamiliar with that office.

Just couple of examples....

For 12 month bank statement + Bank Letter most offices allowed those to be obtained up to 7 days prior. Some want them on day of application.

Some require hand drawn map some not.

OP your list covers most bases.

Don't forget the photo for TM7.

If you plan to obtain a TM8 + Photo also required.

The 90 report has nothing to do with extension however again some offices look to do that at time of extension.

CW just one example do not.

As for address: Owners Thai ID + bluebook + TM30

In preparation for my extension application at Rayong Imm last week I downloaded and printed 3 forms from the Thai Immigration website - STM2, STM9, STM11. When I handed these in with the bundle the IO handed them back and said "We have new forms" and sent me to get them from the reception desk. There were two forms, which I didn't really read, I just quickly filled them in. No great panic, but I won't be wasting my own paper again. Whether the "new forms" are a local requirement or the 3 originals have been replaced but the website hasn't been updated I have no idea.

I am curious about TM30. Last time they asked me but I said I don’t have it so they printed it out.

My wife did that maybe a year ago or so online. However now we login and in that website there is nothing to print at all. I am confused

Nothing to stop her submitting a new one, then you can download it in case of need.

I always download the very latest forms.....fill them in blue ink very carefully.....and never yet had them accepted....."sorry we have new forms", everytime.

I never bother with TM30 after local trips and trips abroad, however every year for my 12 month extension I ask office of my apartment to print out a new TM30.

In your cass have wife do a new one and printout.

Yes that, I went to main immigration website printed the form and filled it in, was told to fill new one when I got there because they had stamp on the top saying Phayao immigration. That was the only difference

You seem aware of office requirements

Don't get what you are inquiring about.

Clearly for you office and most others obtain acknowledgement forms at immigration office.

No necessity to have pre filled out those forms.

Basically you just sign.

I would have wife go with him and have allthe paperwork for the house.

Besides that, just look at the lists for all other immigration and expect to get asked for something strange LOL

It never fails.

Maps are required for home visits, normally in respect of marriage extensions. On saying that some years ago I did have a home visit for retirement ext as did others about that time. Not seen any mention of a retirement home visit for some time.

If an immigration office requires hand drawn may it will be for extensions based on both marriage and retirement.

CW requires this and I provide one each year for extension retirement.

For others note the map is not the entire route. Just Residence to nearest main road, land mark etc

Discussed often. Here is one thread.

At Chaeng Wattana last month I had to sign two extra forms. My understanding is that these authorise Immigration to carry out further background checks to validate the information on the application and acknowledge that such checks may be made. I assume that such checks could include e.g. criminal record databases in other countries.

Had to be printed within a week after registration. As other mentioned, just register a new TM30, sign out and sign in again, search the registration and print it

A TM30 is only available for 7 days after it is submitted. After that, the only way to get a copy is to submit a new TM30, which will also only be available to download from the website for 7 days.

When in doubt, file a new one and print it.

What part of this statement did you find difficult.

Requirement for hand drawn map is unrelated to home visits.

It's a standard requirement at some immigration offices eg CW.

Entirely related, how on earth do you think they find you.

Hand drawn with the roads marked in Thai language. Out of the 7 I have had, only one time was there someone who could speak English. The guy who came last time, saw him dishing out passports in the office a couple of weeks ago.

As usual a nonsense.

Hand drawn map at offices such as CW and many others... do not do home visit for extensions retirement.

Sometimes is done for first extension retirement. Rare.

The hand drawn map does not need show entire map as a Route.

Simply residence to nearest main Rd or landmark

I have asked my wife to submit a new TM30 last week, was there next to her. After it was submitted, nothing was received by email, nothing on website to download at all apart from blank MS Excel file. What gives?

You're not supposed to get any notification by e-mail, or any option to download after submitting. You submit, you added it, that's it.

If you want proof, you go back into the system and search for the entry that was just made, and there will be an export button that crates the proof pdf.

You can only search for a submission within 7 days after it was created. After that, you can no longer access it.

Years back when I needed to show a TM30 at Phuket immigration, a screen print (of the TM30 completed online by my wife) was perfectly acceptable to Phuket immigration.

I have a hand drawn map that I keep photocopies of in my Retirement Visa Extension bundle along with a checklist with notes on everything else required, any differences in a year and how long every step in of the application takes.

There are so many few unoccupied minutes on the day of application that I copy the checklist forward for the next year's application and fill in as much of it as possible. Last year's application was tedious but I can see on the checklist for what I will need in a couple of month's time that the skeleton is ready eg the map is in place : )) Joy!

It makes application less tedious for me, eg I have a note saying for example photos with blue background was said to be needed in 2023 but a white background was said to do in 2024 - oh & yes there is a little plastic folder on the 2026 section with a choice of both - more joy !! : ))

What surprises will there be!

Good luck all
