A 23-year-old Thai man, Nattawat Chanthong, has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a British tourist, Mr. Daniel David Sutton Morris, 22, inside a convenience store on Jomtien Beach Road in Pattaya in the early hours of 13 February 2025. The tourist sustained a serious stab wound to his left thigh and was found lying in a pool of blood beside store shelves. Rescue workers provided first aid at the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.

Police were alerted at 01.05am, when Pol Lt Col Jittisuk Suthinitatwong, Deputy Inspector of the Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a serious assault inside a convenience store on Jomtien Beach Road, Chonburi. Officers coordinated with Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue workers and attended the scene. The suspect was detained by members of the public and handed over to police.

Two knives, a fruit knife and a kitchen knife, were recovered from a rubbish bin outside the store, where the suspect had allegedly discarded them. According to initial questioning, the suspect claimed the British tourist had persistently asked to buy ketamine, which he refused as it is illegal. He said an argument followed and alleged he was punched, resulting in a broken tooth.

The suspect told police he then chased the tourist and stabbed him in the leg inside the convenience store. However, officers said they were not fully convinced by the account and would need to question the injured tourist once his condition improves. Further investigation will determine the precise sequence of events.

Police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and will face legal proceedings in accordance with the law. The condition of the injured British tourist has not been further disclosed. Authorities have also not yet released additional details of potential charges, pending further interviews.

Oh, I didn't know that stabbing foreigners with a knife is illegal in Thailand.

Sounds to me it was just a <removed> again, that don´t know the consequences of such behavior in Thailand. However, not at all right to stab the guy for that, and the Thai guy has to be dealt with.

Another entitled Britisher, why don't these aggressive junkies just stay home. Have ruined what was once a very beautiful, peaceful and family destination. Used to take my kids to Jomtien beach almost everyday after finishing school. Kudos to the Thai guy...get the F out of Thailand, you ain't wanted here...!!!

Sounds very strange wanting ketamine drug ?

  • Popular Post

A Brit just walks up to a kid in a convenience store, who likely isn't fluent enough in English, and asks to buy Ketamine? Then punches the kid because he refuses? Something happened to have the kid go after the Brit with a knife, even though it's a commonly carried weapon here. Guess we'll never know, as these stories don't have a followup many times. Assumptions won't tell the story.

So assault with a deadly weapon is okay? Besides self defense of course, but why is he carrying two knives in the first place? Can't assume he was a junkie asking for drugs as that isn't logical in the first place. Something happened to cause this situation but we don't know.

I'd say a case of a disrespectful Brit getting his punishment.

Perhaps he hurt a family member or stole something

Lots of nasty, disrespectful foreigners arriving these days.

But I guess they're okay with the other 99% of daily crime that happens here. rape, murder, stabbings, daily road deaths, kids killing parents and parents killing kids, drug deals with the associated shootings, domestic violence, up to 65% or more of schoolgirls molested in schools by the time they turn 17, theft, gold store robberies, gangs, animal poisonings, human trafficking, prostitution, stealing from neighbors, violence towards children from parents and teachers, and lately, school shootings?

Can't imagine getting ventilated by a filthy kitchen and fruit knife that most likely has mango guts and kebab residue on it. Gross. Should get checked for flesh eating bacteria

It doesn't add up.

We need the Brit guy's version of the story.

Nothing here justifies that sort of violence.

Nothing short of a person going after you with a weapon themself. The fact the kid was carrying two knives shows his motives. Problem is, most stories here aren't followed up so we know the facts.

Yep, but the anti Brit members here are already defending the Thai’s actions.

As usual, don’t need the full details just pick a side and go with it seems the typical knee jerk reaction from many posters on here.

Well I guess the Thais are not happy with the other 99% of home grown crime but why should they have to put up with the other imported 1%...which I would say is debatable...that old excuse of deflection is no defense for this case 👍

The kid at the local 7-11 has been getting a bit hostile towards me for no apparent reason. He either hates me personally or hates all foreigners.

So I go to another 7-11 now to avoid conflict.

Exactly, we hardly ever have all the details. Sometimes, the foreigner is at fault but not always. But even then, a knife attack should only be for self-defense if your life is threatened.

No deflection but posting facts. Why do Americans put up with all the Asian crime in America? Because it happens and you hope it doesn't happen to you. Thailand needs tourism to help pay the bills, and with tourism comes a few loonies that are likely the same way in their own countries. Can't escape loonies unless you buy an island.

Thailand is also a sex capital, which means they allow their women and boys to be bought and sold, some involving addiction and slavery, all for profits, mostly by the Thais themselves, and where corruption sometimes allows it to happen.

Most of the prejudice that happens with these kids is taught by their own prejudiced parents. Some are jealous and hate foreigners, and take their anger out on them. Sometimes for no reason on innocents.

The issues that you raise maybe true, but I don’t think it justifies stabbing random foreigners who may, or may not, have contributed to spoiling your piece of paradise.

If the issues are real, the solution lies with the local authorities to deal with anti social behavior. And that, of course, is in and of itself a problem.

Looks like the British tourist had earlier randomly approached him and then persistently followed and pressured him to sell ketamine.
