At 84 I really don't need to be told the facts of life and death.

You take the good you take the bad you take them all and then you have......😆

The Grim Reaper speaks. You've said much the same thing at least 10 times here. Why? Do you actually think people in their 70's and 80's don't already know they're in their twilight years? Many live u

Delightful. Another very positive topic from you about all the joys of life, health and aging. You are such a wealth of inspiring subjects.

Oh please, at least have the balls to be genuine. I don't believe you're 'sorry' to say any of these things, I think you enjoy it because you often make claims of talking to people in this blunt manne

I am 80, and I have a plan for the end of my life.

  • I have a will that has all my bank and online accounts and passwords.

  • I have a close friend who lives near me who has agreed to be the executor of the will.

  • In my will, I state that I do not want my body cremated or embalmed. I want to be buried in a biodegradable sack, called a "body pod," and a tree planted on top of me.

I would like to do this as well. Tree pod. Graveyards are such a waste.

So nice to hear. A man with a positive outlook.

I assume you don't have a family in your home country and a "secondary" family in Thailand, eventually dying without a written "last will".

In such cases, intercontinal battles between the 2 families will take place and costing a lot of money. If that's the case, make a will.

If the above is not applicable in your case, forget this comment.

Thank you for your comment and input. I’ve got it all covered.

Very selfish way to go - think of those whom you might land on and kill/maim, and the emergency workers who have to shovel up the mess...

If there was an easier more civilised way to do then I'm sure people would

I don't really think about death much (55) but this year after other family events my husband and i had a pretty detailed will written up to take care of our estate. My husband's mother died last year while we were in Thailand without a will of any kind. That left a mess for her family still living in the house, that was all in her name. Her car was unsellable and the house a huge disaster. Then this year, my husband's father also died having not cleared up anything with the formers estate. Now the whole mess is left to the surviving children to deal with. So, the issue I see is not really about the one who dies (like others have mentioned, when you are dead you won't care) but with what those who are still alive and what they may have to deal with. Other than that- live your life.

I'm surprised people are ok with going head first into dementia or other awful torturous health condition

Better than a will is IMO spending the money. Spend it while the old prostate is still there.

After that it becomes a matter of how do die painlessly. One thing to keep in mind: Thailand has no euthanasia or assisted suicide provisions.

Plenty of balconies if the urge gets that great.

I agree they should plan for end of life, maybe an exit bag, who wants to live through things like dementia and Parkinson's, tough on families for sure, dementia people don't seem to mind much as they have mostly forgotten who they are

If I had the choice between dementia and Parkinson's I'd choose dementia.

I'd rather forget paying for my beer than knocking it over.

I often hear such bravado, including from people who have two weeks' sleepless nights in the run-up to a dentist appointment.

Really? I've never heard it from anyone who was serious.

I doubt they would tell you or me.

It would just happen and be in the news the next day.
