3 types of friends I can think of.

People who you have similar take on things with - be it music, politics, etc but you have to have a similar sense of humour to go with it.

People who have done things for you and you them and you build trust. I know a guy who is actually with my ex thai wife who has a particular area of expertise where I struggle and vice versa and we've grown to trust each other - not simply because we both get something - because of the way each of us have gone about it.

A third category is old friends, with whom it doesn't matter how many years have gone by, you can be yourself with them - you don't need to put on pretences and it would be useless if you tried as they know you too well.

This anti harrisfan stuff is getting so boring although it's fun watching the score go down.

He starts some interesting threads and very often is offensive but I actually like this version of Harrisfan. He has posted now probably more than any other over the last 3 years(Sue and his other names ) and is honing his sense of extremely dry humor. He is one of my favorite posters.

With all the above said, you may be right. Oh well, still like many of his posts.
