Bill Maher is correct

Featured Replies

Bill Maher has repeatedly argued that the political left has shifted dramatically, claiming it has become increasingly intolerant and ideologically rigid. He insists “I haven’t turned — the left has changed,” criticizing what he sees as an overemphasis on identity politics, cancel culture, and suppression of free speech. Maher believes the left now prioritizes ideological purity over practical governance and coalition-building, making it harder to defeat what he views as a more dangerous right-wing threat.

Maher’s criticism extends to progressive stances on gender, race, policing, and campus activism, particularly regarding pro-Palestinian protests, which he has compared unfavorably to Vietnam-era demonstrations. He argues that today’s activism often alienates potential allies and supports a terrorist group, Hamas, undermining its legitimacy.

Lefties were cool in the 70s. Now they spew hate online, on tv and radio. They went from hippies to big pharma fans and from free speech to cancel culture.

Bob Hawke was the last lefty leader with principles. He left office in 1991. Since then endless lefty hypocrites and gas bags.

Bill bashing the culture cultist.

google ai overview:

"Based on his commentary through 2025 and early 2026, here are the key arguments he has made regarding the shift in the political left:

  • Intolerance and "Woke" Culture: Maher frequently criticizes what he calls "stupid woke" culture, arguing that modern progressives are often ideologically rigid, intolerant of opposing viewpoints, and prone to "canceling" those who disagree".

His observations are correct.

In todays world this Maher overview captures the irony perfectly ,the farleft forums that support cancel culture, identity politics and anti free speech will not let you talk about their failings.

google ai overview:

"He(Maher) frequently highlights this divide, arguing that he hasn't changed his views, but rather that the "center" of the political spectrum has shifted, leaving him to the right of the modern progressive movement on issues like cancel culture, identity politics, and free speech".

Maher, as much of a leftie he is, is an example of an individual who understands the vision of his personal convictions and values, sober and rationally. What is really going on with those on the left who are losing their minds is that they’re easily persuaded, they’ll believe and follow whoever is loudest without a second thought, they’ve been roped in and there’s no escaping. Such a waste.

violent to unhinged. The only way they get away with it is their MSM propaganda machine appeases it.As this listing shows the violent subversive rhetoric they use and the dem's who use it.

Democrats’ Unhinged Crusade Against ICE Fuels Bloodshed

Its a matter of time before the far left turns on Bill Maher.Bill is calling it like it is.

They'll be looking to cast him down , like they do to everyone who dare's to criticize their radical far left leaders.

google ai overview:

"Warning to Democrats: Maher warned that the party's shift toward the far-left, exemplified by Mamdani, will cause them to lose more elections. He argued that if voters continue to be presented with choices between "the worst version of crony capitalism or communism," they will reject the latter".

I see no future for the left. Too far gone.

He also understands that the GQP has been coopted by a cult of personality surrounding a criminal Russian predator.

But as of 14 FEB 2026 Trump seems to already have. This Truth Social post (scree?) was too long to get a full screen shot. You can read the rest here:

It's because the Democratic Party has been hijacked by the woke progressive left that helped Trump won the Electoral College, the House, the Senate and the Popular Vote and this is also why I think the mid-terms this time around isn't a given although the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party aka the MSM is working overtime and the Dems are creating as much chaos as they can.

Welcome to this morning's (pretty empty) right wing affirmation echo chamber.

No google ai overview required.

Bill's on the right side of this argument of appeasing terror.

"Maher has repeatedly criticized American activists he sees as excusing or overlooking Hamas abuses while focusing their ire on Israel. In May, he similarly challenged US liberals who expressed support for Hamas despite the group’s extremist ideology"

I watch Maher every week. He criticizes the right far more than he does the left. And rightfully so, as the right is so much more f'd up. And he says that all the time.

The cherry picking of his comments to support MAGA idiocy is nonsense.

Of course he does. He is a lefty goon.

You have described MAGA with precision. I do agree that the Dems have gone too far to the left and I think that the progressives within the party need to be ignored. Most dems like myself are very much centrist, and we simply try to ignore the nonsense, the political correctness, the woke and trans garbage, and all that kind of stuff. 00.2% have absolutely no business dictating policy to the masses.

As others have said it is tenuous to make a lot of this when he is much more critical of the right.

My take though is his criticisms of some - normally the far left - are fair - but that's not what most left leaning people are about.

He will make fun of people wearing masks in cars - such a rarity - to get a laugh about how the pandemic was handled.

He'll make fun of Gays for Palestine - pointing out the intolerance for gays - unfairly tarnishing all with concerns about the treatment of Palestinians.

For the left he'll find extreme examples of opinions on the far left - that are often not the opinions of mainstream democrats.

He can make valid points on all these issues but in my opinion is lazy to get a laugh by finding extremes and suggesting that's part of the norm.

Whereas mainstream republicans do in fact hold - or put up with - the extreme views of Trump on a range of issues so it's not comparing like with like.

I think he doesn't quite get himself why he lost a chunk of his audience who look for more nuanced and fair comparisons and humour.

Indeed it's people like you that were sensible enough not to fall for the woke virtue signaling insanity that jumped ship and voted TRUMP. There's no doubt this was a big reason he won everything that was up for grabs at the election. Of course another good reason was the DEI cackling idiot pick the Dems ran as they're nomination for POTUS.

What's missed through the haze of constant delusion is Trump now represents the centrist's as he cleverly put forward centrist, populists policies whilst the nutter woke progressives took the party further and further to the left. This remains the situation today and why I think the mid-term result isn't as clear cut as the woke virtue signaling lefties think.

Anybody that describes Trump as having put forth centrist and populist policies and actually implemented them, has got to be living in a parallel universe from the one I'm in. Don the Destroyer continues to destroy the American economy on a daily basis, and the pain is only just beginning to be felt by the average American.

The only thing we're in agreement on is that Harris was a terrible choice.

Agree but allow me to say the Dems care more about themselves and the illegal aliens are a tool for them regaining and keeping power. The Dems couldn't care less about the illegal aliens. They are simply a way of getting votes, getting more seats in Congress and being a source of manufactured chaos.

Guess you didn't notice the border being shut down and haven't noticed record low fuel prices. How about no tax on tips. Do you consider this to be a right wing policy?

You see you wonder why you are unpopular with down votes. In the pub your posts are ok until you get in some long boring back and forward. But on politics it's you and others with posts like this that are such a turn off. That's my opinion.
