Iran strikes Thai ship attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

I think the prices are going to go up soon in Thailand.

Actually, the Trump administration's motto is If we break it, you fix it. He's sitting up the Iranian people as scapegoats if they fail to overthrow the mullahs.

Who are the economists predicting $150 to $400 oil? This situation is being highly exaggerated as Iran loses it ability to enforce such a closure.

Many vessels are now heading to Saudi Arabia's west coast to pick up crude oil, avoiding the Strait of Hormuz, which should be beneficial alongside the pipeline.

Except Yeman's Anserallah just joined Iran formally and I expect ships transiting the Bab-el-Mandeb to be fired on.

What did Hamas recommend to Iran?

It's becoming clear that Trumps intelligence is falling short of the mark.

A week or so ago he said he didn't need any ships from UK now he seems caught on the hop by the Straights of Hormuz blockage. Everyone else knew but he'd sacked most of his intelligence boffins a few months back.

The US has since WW2 engaged in several foreign policy gaffs.... this looks like being the most e.barassing of them all.

I think he realises, he's made a mistake but it will be interesting to see how his ego let's him disengage from this mess.

How did it get hit?

It is flagged Thai, is it?

Its a dry bulk carrier that is designed to transport loose raw materials. No containers or oil.

Mostly grain sugar coal iron ore cement etc. It was empty at the time of attack.

So no boom boom.

His ego has caused him to take out his gaffs on the news media again. The FCC is threatening the licenses of the networks for "intentionally misinforming" the public about the war. Evidently, Trump thinks the media is not allowed to tell the truth.

Any investigation yet?

Yes thai authorities. Apparently it was iran who attacked it. Claims are that the ship ignored warnings not to pass.

That's why the big push to get Ellison to take over CNN. He wants to stifle the truth.

CNN are proven liars like you and many others on here.

Networks are not licensed -- only individual broadcast radio and TV stations are licensed. The major networks own individual major-market TV stations but that is something else.

Non-broadcast networks like CNN and Fox are not licensed.

This comment sums up Trump in a nutshell. It's almost beautiful in its simplicity.

So what do you make of this??? As a Trump quote?

"It is the press, above all, which wages a positively fanatical and slanderous struggle, tearing down everything which can be regarded as a support of national independence, cultural elevation, and the economic independence of the nation."

Too many big words for a Trump quote.

The situation now is there are no good options to get out of this, only bad ones.

It is looking like it's going to be Trumps Suez....the Israelis in the meantime have a carte blanched to do whatever they like.... I doubt if Trump has any control over them any more.

I don't see many agreeing with you, so are you posting for the one or two fanatics, like yourself, here? Have you considered that the overwhelming stench may be closer to home than you care to imagine?

Well yeah, when I have to respond to folks like you and your ilk. Hows that Iran war going for you guys?

Why do you have to respond? A compulsion? Do you feel compelled to splutter and dribble abuse at anyone who doesn't share your point of view? That seems like wild derangement from where I am sitting. Completely normal to you?

I don't know of any Iran war. I know that the USA and Israel have attacked Iran. Do you know different?

Public displays of mental illness where children can access same must be called out. Im a free speech absolutist, which mandates that utter idiocy be identified as utter idiocy,

Below is a link to a thorough and houghtful exposition of these pipelines. Basically the article says that they were already in use before the war so there's only so much that can be pumped through them. And they can't be fully utilized because the terminus at the Yanbu port can only load, at most, 4.5 million bpd. At most. And about 2 million bpd of that capacity is already being utilized by a Saudi refinery on the Red Sea. In addition, those pipelines can only transport crude oil. A large percentage of the tankers passing through the straits carry refined distillates such as diesel or jet fuel.

Hormuz Bypass Infrastructure Was Sized for a Short Disruption. This Is Not That.

For four decades, Gulf oil producers made a calculated infrastructure bet: any closure of the Strait of Hormuz would be temporary and that partial bypass capacity—enough to bleed off pressure for days or weeks—was sufficient insurance.

The narrow waterway normally carries roughly 20 million barrels per day of petroleum liquids, approximately one-fifth of global consumption, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. There currently exist two overland pipelines built to bypass the strait, which can, at best, move 4 to 5 million barrels per day to export terminals.
