March 3Mar 3 Entered TH last week on a Non-O Spouse visa and now need to open a local bank account for the 400k seasoning prior to doing my 1-year extension in May.A staff member at SCB asked me to produce a work permit plus proof of billing address from my phone provider so isn't versed in the Non-O process and I walked out.My Thai spouse works in BKK and rents a flat so the lease is in her name signed Oct 2025.Firstly - are there specific bank account types or names one opens on a Non-O visa? Or will any basic deposit/savings account do?Secondly for bank account - in lieu of getting my name added to the lease, I assume I get a CoR at CW given the lease commencement date doesn't coincide with my arrival. Is this the only way to prove my address along with our landlord's TM30 he issued after I arrived? For banks, can they not just accept a TM30?Lastly which form is used for the COR application - TM18 or TM20 (both are on the TH immigration downloads webpage)?TIA
March 3Mar 3 Every bank in Thailand operates to its own interpretation of the law and each branch will have its own ideas even down to the person you are dealing with, that said a 90 day non o and a cor from imigration with a lease should be enough to open a bank account, you will just have to visit a few until you meet someone helpfull
March 3Mar 3 Don't even worry about the form you need to fill out. Just go to the main immigration office out at the government complex building B on Chaengwattana Road. Go to the third floor that's where the TM 30, 90 day report, and certificate of residence room is. Have your tm30, have your lease, data page of your passport, copy of your evisa, most recent entry stamp. They'll give you the form to fill out while you're standing there and you'll have plenty of time while you wait in the queue. The COR is free and when you apply they will give you a receipt that says come back in one week to pick up the certificate

March 3Mar 3 For the bank the non o and a cor should be enough for a bank account though i have seen a few reports of the bank wanting one, yes the lease must match your other documents for the bank account, it took me 9 visits to various banks to get one opened a few years ago

March 3Mar 3 The COR from CW is 200b and is mailed to you. Process takes about 5 days (they state allow two weeks)The docs required are outlined by Tod earlier post.Note: be aware SCB does not have a branch at CW. Nor does Kasikorn. Not a deal breaker as CW allows those to be obtained days prior to extension application, however update on day of application can be a pain

At least I can find it neither onhttps://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=3159nor onhttps://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=2163The website of the Bangkok immigration office may have the application form on it somewhere but I cannot find it. Not all immigration offices use he same form. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Unfortunate as for one I would much prefer the mail out service that was previously the MO. Wonder if yet another option for agent to pick up on your behalf. CW is huge hurdle for some with mobility issues.
March 3Mar 3 Author Thx for the info folks, the additional visit to collect the COR certainly isn’t ideal. Send by mail would have been better….id pay for this if it were a choice!

Thanks

I needed passport, mobile phone no. ownership slip and Thai Driving License (home driving license may have sufficed). I was however directed to a specific branch so I don't know if this is universal.ETA: Just noticed the thread is about CW so should point out my Krungthai branch wasn't in Bangkok.

March 5Mar 5 Popular Post We were able to open a bank account at Bangkok bank a year ago with a passport, visa letter (LTR), CofR, and US driver's license. However; a year later the account was frozen and then canceled as we didn't have a yellow book or pink card. They didn't accept a Thai driver's license, bill with address listed or new CofR. I would streer clear of Bangkok bank as they got caught in money laundering with scam accounts and since then have become very difficult.
