Halifax Clarity Credit card - change to visa

Featured Replies

Halifax are changing from Mastercard to Visa, they sent an email end of Jan saying they will be issuing new visa cards but no sign of it yet, anyone received one?

Yes a couple of days ago at my UK address....

Regional Restrictions: There are reports of Halifax not posting cards to specific countries (e.g., Thailand) or closing accounts for non-UK residents in certain jurisdictions due to post-Brexit regulatory changes

Restricted Delivery: In certain countries outside the EU, such as Thailand, users have reported difficulty receiving physical cards or being told their accounts must be closed if they are no longer UK residents.

I found that on a quick search on google, it has no source though, so might be rubbish

Did you get a sms first? I'm wondering if they are sending in alphabetical order. Nothing on my account so nothing sent yet

Yes.......message sent a day earlier.

My Halifax Clarity Credit was due to expire end of last month ( February ).

I had a email back in December saying they Halifax was changes from mastercard to Visa.

My new card arrived early in January, you can log in to the Halifax app and see your new card's details few weeks before the bank send you the physical card.

My card was send to a UK address as none of my UK banks know I'm living in Thailand.

Lloyds are switching from Mastercard to Visa too. They won't send new cards to Thailand either. My sister just sends it on to me.

Yes nothing showing on the app for me, I do alot of THB transactions I'm wondering if that's something to do with the delay i.e. they are wondering about location

When's is the your card due to expire ?

Mine wasn't due to expire until 2027 and the notification of the issuing of a "new" card didn't explain the reason for such. This gave me cause for concern as I though it may have been a scam.

However, I decided to wait a while and do nothing. My "new" Visa-backed Halifax card arrived (in the UK) in February along with a letter explaining the reason for the change.

Expect a slightly worse exchange rate...

I don't think so. I'm in the UK now and have a mate's new Visa card here. Mine has not been issued yet, either physically or in the app, and my surname is earlier in the alphabet than his.

Another thing to note is it appears the new cards are only valid until the same expiry date as the old card. I'd heard this elsewhere and my mate's card seems to back that up as it's valid from 02/26 to 08/28, only 2.5 years. Previously cards were at least 4 years going by mine which is valid until 10/27.

As i said further up, suddenly the new card is in the app, yes it has the same expiry date, mine is 2029 so ok
