flightcrew1
Well no surprise. Mike's Original Burgers on Silom which just opened 2 months ago has closed it's doors. I never saw more than a 6 people in the place at the best of times and I walk by that area several times a day. We were all hoping for a great burger, but the service...the wait...the quality of the food and the burgers were just horrible with tough gristle throughout. I and several friends gave it a go at least 3 times but the always the same. Last time a week ago the french fries which were usually not bad were served stone cold. So again no surprise this place has closed it's doors!

Location was not too good, it was on the 'Thai office worker" side of Silom road and was not easy to spot from Pat Pong side because of the BTS station pillars, stairs and control boxes in between. Probably didn't help.

backflip
Despite the "horrible location", the shophouse has been sold for several million USD, and Mike's lease was cancelled. A Thai restaurant will be located there, in the "horrible location". Mike's, on the other hand, is looking for another location, one that is not so "horrible". kissrev1
They might as well not bother to look for another location. Mike's couldn't do a decent business if they were located inside the compound of the US Embassy. I'd rather eat Issan-style fried scorpions than to eat at Mike's again! A_Traveller
Leases can not be cancelled at the whim of the owner, further a lesse is specifically legally protected so that if the freehold of the building changes the new owner must respect the existing lease. Naturally they may buy out the lease having negotiated with the lessee. As an aside I thought I'd try a burger there, as a rare foray into western food, shortly after they opened and it has to rank as possibly the nastiest I've had for many a year. Strange.....normally you would give a business 4 to 6 months before shutting down. 2 months is not enough.
