October 28, 200718 yr BRING BACK THE GENTLEMAN! Can't see that happening. Anyway, he's been back many times, albeit under different names, don't think he'd want to come back "for real"...
October 28, 200718 yr As long as ThaiVisa has the interest of the Thai government, why doesn't it see if it can arrange some interactive web sessions with various Thai officials? Starting with Immigration officials, but maybe Commerce and others as well.

Starting with Immigration officials, but maybe Commerce and others as well. Good idea in principle. However, it would require almost simultaneous moderating as the Troll/Flame Brigade would insult the "guests" from the get go.

You'd definitely need to screen out the "I hate myself and every one/thing else" crowd. Still, if lightly moderated, so that some questions that really matter to people can get asked, it could be a good idea.
October 30, 200718 yr Just a quick note to you all to say thanks for all your suggestions so far... the feedback has been duly noted and some of your ideas are now being worked on. October 30, 200718 yr I would love to see more Thais posting here as well, My hunch is many Thais do find their way to Thaivisa at some point, read a few posts and then decide not to bother with it, because of the direct, unforgiving attitude and negativity of many posters. Thais with good written English are usually well educated and come from environments where you need to mind your manners and taught to avoid people who don't. Perhaps I am wrong though... P Meadish.... quite spot on with the above. I stumbled across the site a couple of years ago while searching for some accom info for a farang friend. was inactive for a year, then came back again for similar info.this time took a look around... saw some posts that seemed like they wanted some info/opinion about thailand or thai ways of doing things. thats when I started replying...to share my views. thats when i was confronted with the negative views....and realised these people were not looking for answers to their questions. they either already had their own ideas, whether through bad experience, or be it prejudice without any real cause. you cant reason with such people. i think a couple may have even implied I was only on this expat forum to look for a farang bf. anyhow, by then i had found the footie forum where i feel safe and ofcourse later bedlam with my own chocolate hiding place. so I stuck around

Just to add to this debate about pay for service.... I suscribe to the Central gold card scheme. The only reason I am willing to shell out about 5k baht per year is because of the benefits that come with the central gold card. Some years I have used hardly any of the benifits while other years I have used most of the coupons. Having a Central gold card is very handy getting premium service at most of their resorts and the like. If TV wants a "premium" club - I for one am happy to pay comensurate with benefits supplied. If TV included a VIP room in the Dollhouse or Slim I'm sure a few "premium" packages could be sold!
October 30, 200718 yr anyhow, by then i had found the footie forum where i feel safe and ofcourse later bedlam with my own chocolate hiding place. so I stuck around And for that we are thankful, Miggies!

Like mcgriffith said, we're really happy to have you here as well! What do you think TV could do to attract more Thais? Got any ideas? (Im a big fan of chocolate myself, but I try to keep my addiction offline, I hate having to clean the monitor. )
October 31, 200718 yr to attract more thai..how about some language exchange market? initially maybe online, but with option that people that meet the right pairing can also take it offline? just an idea.... could be of interest...... cant comment on how the details should work though...I know there are already sites that offer this kind of service...but still worth a try perhaps?
November 1, 200718 yr it would surprise me if Invision didn't have such a facility available. Looks like it does. Far more use could be made of this though, e.g. at least say the name of the festival / event in the calendar window rather than just "event".
December 3, 200718 yr Thank you for all your suggestions. Some have you have been given a permanent holiday for them, others will get free access to the premium site.
December 3, 200718 yr In many Thai people's view, when it comes to Thailand and Thai culture, the Westerner should first listen and say thanks for the explanation, not tell them what is wrong with their reasoning. If you need clarification or disagree with something, then you should do so politely and in a non-imposing or sarcastic manner... i.e. preserve face... What a nice bloke you are Meadish, I think you should pin that in General.
December 3, 200718 yr Just a quick note to you all to say thanks for all your suggestions so far... the feedback has been duly noted and some of your ideas are now being worked on. Like the Asiafriendfinder ads in Bedlam eh..? They're still causing problems you know.
December 4, 200718 yr Yeah, the beta testing's been going for a while now, are you able to share the results with us? Any firm decisions yet on the features to be included?
December 8, 200718 yr A swingers forum would be nice..... Yes !!!! And one for slides and sandpits Infantile.

December 10, 200718 yr So one wonders whether this 'Platinum' concept is actually in process; or is April 1 nearing? I particularly liked the bit by one 'enthusiastic' (and probably very young) poster who said he would pay B500/month and later declared he'd pay B1000/month... sight unseen! Then there was the idea of B5000 for life membership - up-front payment would guarantee self-moderation, because you wouldn't want to be kicked after shelling out for LM. As to the advantage of not having banner ads, I don't even notice them much less read them (sorry sponsors!). I have no problem with sponsors advising of their product in response to a post, however, and this is probably where the real value for them may be found. If it is a genuine concept - * are there sufficient people who would be interested in a subscription forum? The worst thing to happen would be to downgrade non-platinum services; let's hope that consideration is duly discussed and rejected. * can mods/admin provide some feedback as to the current situation and matters under consideration? If we have been played a line, it's probably time to put us out of our misery.

Thanks Ping, good to get this back on topic after the usual Bedlam-style thread hijacking with pointless posts being made. I think the B500 / B1000 post was actually taking the mickey a bit. But anyway, you're right, it would be good to get an update from mods or admin about this...
December 10, 200718 yr With moderation taking place on every thread throughout the day; the silence on this issue speaks volumes.
December 11, 200718 yr With moderation taking place on every thread throughout the day; the silence on this issue speaks volumes. Meaning what, that they don't have time to get the Platinum Service up and running? If so, then why is there a fully working and active Paypal payment section which can take people's money? The fact that that is all in place must mean that the platinum service will be starting imminently, otherwise surely it would be best to disable the Payment section to avoid potential problems with refunding payments, advising people that the service that they just paid for isn't ready yet, etc.? Or perhaps the idea has been shelved and it's just a loose end which no-one's got round to tidying up yet...? Would be good to know one way or another anyway.

If you are refering to Lamphun's replies, I think they were an example of British sarcasm. He has already said that he doesn't think that the forum will last long if they start charging.
December 11, 200718 yr nOTE TO ALL MEMBERS: When have you ever, in Thailand, Been refunded,,,,: edit: Oh: ??
