Karon beach seems to be the place where kite surfers play. I've watched some exciting displays there. Sorry can't answer your other questions.

Anyone know for windsurf rentals ?? Used to be a fella before the tsunami but I think hes no longer involved.

There is a school and shop at Nai Yang Beach, which is perfect in the low season as it's the safest beach around this west coast due to the 2 reefs that come around to protect it. Kiteboarding hugely poular here in low season when big winds occur, now it's only good for the original surfers and not the trussed-up aerialists.......

P.S I think the shop & school is called KiteBoards of Asia but I can check later if you want.
