Storage Lockers In Bkk.?

Recommended Posts

I've been living in an apartment in Bkk. for over ten years, but now I want to get out and travel for many months. I will reduce my possessions to a bare minimum, and give up my apartment to save on rent, but don't want to throw everything away. Does anyone of a place to keep some things in storage in Bkk.? A large locker or small storage room, payable by the year, would be enough. I would need to be able to use my own lock, or at least have a key to keep with me, so left luggage facilities are unacceptable.

Some bowling lanes have large lockers, but all I've checked are full. Goethe Institute has lockers, but one must also pay 1200 baht a month for swimming pool membership. Any other ideas? Thanks

Harry, Thanks for the link, but despite its nice touristy description of Bkk.'s temples, etc., I could find no info about storage facilities in Bkk. This website covers USA and a few European countries, and is intended basically for executive families who need lots of expensive relocation services. Any other tries?

Thought I'd try one more time before this topic sinks out of sight. Found some available lockers in the bowling establishment in MBK for 1500 a year. Price is OK, but they are still a bit too small for what I would like to keep in them. Does anyone know of larger lockers or lockable storage space?

Harry, thanks again for replying, but a left luggage service isn't really what I'm looking for, especially at 90 to 180 baht per piece, per day (ouch). That's much more than I want to pay for storage, and I don't really have "pieces" of luggage to store; rather I want to dump a bunch of books, photo albums, diaries and other loose stuff in a locker or lockers for a year or more. There is a left luggage facility at Hualamphong train station as well, but I've read about theft problems there.

hey, thanks for the left luggage link!! My friend is coming in November for a triathlon. he lands at midnight and we fly to phuket the next day. It will be much easier to just leave the bike at the airport and go back to my apartment to catch some zzz's before the next flight. I think I'll also bring my bike and leave it there when I go to meet him.

Harry - I'd be interested to.

I started a similar topic and there seems to be three now - so there is a few people interested !

I'm interested in storing maybe 2/3 suitcases worth, for possibly a few months at a time, for a reasonable price and to be reasonbly sure about security.

Cheers

I am also looking for storage, not the conventional storage locker 8 feet by 4 feet etc. but just a small space about 2X2X3 feet. I have one sports bag, I medium suitcase and one carry on bag.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Robert

Rent an apartment in Pattaya !

I got tired of living in a hotel, and having to pack up everything every time I left. Found a small apartment nearby and rent it by the year now. 2,500 baht a month (plus a little extra for power and cable when I'm in town).

Lots of room to store stuff (TV, computer, clothes, ect). Landlady keeps an eye on things and cleans the place every couple of weeks.

Now, when ever I hit town all I have to do is flip a switch (power), and wait for the aircon to cool the place down. Everything I need is already there !

A lot more convenient that having to find a place every time, getting stuff out of storage, putting it back into storage and vacating another apartment/hotel each trip.

I try to get back to LOS 3-4 times a year. Having the apartment certainly makes life a lot easier.

Here are two recommended outfits offering such services. Bangkok Self Storage are located at 3249 Rama 4 Road, between Asoke and Sukumvit. 2 square metre - 17 square metres available and the contact is Suzanna on 02-2611516. New Self Storage which is past the Carrefour and is said to have good security, video monitored 24 hour access available, new, nice, secure and seems to be well ran Foreign owner John Elliott mobile 01-889-3106. Pricing is close to US pricing (8,000 baht per month for 17 sq metre) but it is in the heart of the city.

Not a bad idea, Kerry, I'm looking at similar up nr Impact centre, BKK, for 1800/month.

Haven't seen it yet. :o

Anyone used this service before? (Need travel little lighter down to Phuket since Air Asia only allows 15kg for checked luggage)
