No

End of 2008 is the next estimated date for opening.

By then the airport may have closed :o

Ah, yes, and given sort of normal planning here, both fiscal and construction, the first shipment of the trains arrived here last month, and will be sitting in storage for some time.

Hmmm, wonder if they're compatible with the trains already on the Skytrain run?  If so, how about putting them to use?

December 5, 2008 seems like the current target for commencing express (SBIA-Makasan) service. YMMV.

I thought I heard ( had a cermony) that it would be functional by NOVEMBER 2007 ?? Ah such kidders eh?

No chance, SkyTrain is 750V DC third rail, Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link is 25kV AC overhead pickup, the gauge is the same though :o

BTW SARL is part of SRT nothing to do with SkyTrain. We're lucky there's actually going to be a transfer station, no news on compatible ticketing though, means yet another smart card in the wallet.

The 2008 opening is unlikely, only a year to go and the guideway still has massive gaps, no systems installed yet, realistic opening mid '09, maybe.

Maybe off topic but what are the pros and cons of each system?
