Here at the last day of year 2007 I'm angry, and not just a little bit angry, madly angry!

I brought my 3 kids for an nice day, to shop, look a movie and eat at KFC, all at Junceylon

Costs 1000 baht for movie tickets, snacks 96 baht, KFC 389 baht, Carrefour 3976 baht. called the day and went to the carpark to return home, presented my carrefour bill at the gate and the cashier said I have to pay 10 baht, since we have been longer than 3 hours. NO, I told here I'm not going to pay anything. She directly called in for backup and security and they came running in hords of them, now I got really pissed of and slammed 20 baht in her box and left with screaming tires. Have a nice new year!!!!!!!!.

I cannot in this world understand the shitty policy this management has and rotten staff, I curse it into burning hel_l for the new year.

A thoroughly good point; you often have to queue to get out, signposting is appalling, and the girl on the gate is surly; there should, like Central, be NO charge. They also need to upgrade the lighting and get rid the nasty smell in the car park.

Jung Ceylon take note or we all go to Central.

Totally agree with both of you.

My g/f has worked in JungCeylon since it opened.

She's had to change jobs 3 times now as the management have cranked up the rents and forced her employers out. Sheer profiteering with no business acumen whatsoever. Customer service must be bottom of their list of priorities.

On a different note. Found out how to get free parking there yesterday....

Go into one of the banks and take one the little "take a number and wait" receipts. Then present it to the surly car park girl on you way out.

(this isn't illegal, so the mods hopefully won't remove it)

Happy New Year!

I'm with you mate. A day spent with three kids (and presumably the missus), watching a crappy kids film, eating chicken fat, dragged through the shops and spending 5,500 baht!

I would be really, really pissed too!! :o

And then to have to pay 10 Baht just to leave!! I don't know what to say!!

Posted

.....and once they've tried to cheat me:

"120 Baht Sir!"

me:"Huh!.....can u get me a receipt please?"

he was very surprised and answered a bit confused:"ooh, uh, eeh, solly my mistake it;s free!

I'm not just being argumentative for the sake of it, I just don't agree. I have never come across anywhere in the world, where parking in a town center doesn't cost money. If it was 100 bt then fare enough that would be taking the mick, but 10 bt aint gonna break the bank, especially when you have just spent several thousand. I reallies it's probably not a money thing and more of a principal thing, I just think that there's a million and one things to get irate about worse than that.

Posted

I'm afraid I don't agree either - they have to draw a line somewhere and currently it's at three hours and that seems very fair to me. If you stay four hours you have to pay ten baht, regardless of how much money you spent, I can't see a sensible system working any differently from this. It does seem like your post is something of an over reaction given the circumstances and only assume you just had a tough day shopping etc.

Posted

Does not seem sensible to me that you spend 100 baht and get 3 hours free parking, but dare to stay longer and spent x thousand Baht, and have to pay 10 baht/hour for the extra hours.

I have no problem with the 10 baht/hour, as that's really quite cheap, but suggest that the amount spent should be indexed to the parking time. This should make sense but TIT .... :o

No matter, I'm happy to pay 10 baht/hour for secure hassle-free parking. No Tuk Tuk's there to kick in your door .....

Oh.. and I forget to agree that that the exit sign posting is a nightmare. Just no clear exit way out. I park near my entrance point, just to see where I am aiming for to make my exit.

city centre parking for a whole day for that and you are unhappy, thats amazing

Chief,

I hear you, and I know where your coming from, but 10bht? Have to agree with Cosse.

It ain't worth the headache man. This stuff will never change. No matter how long or how wise anyone is. I do understand though.

I go into a resturant there, I am all alone, no one around, no one in the place but me, and I say, in Thai, can I have a coke please?, and the reply...

"Just one?"

Next time just smile, shipmate. Wipe the coin on your arse :o , and hand it over. Makes me feel better :D .

Rules and rules and im sure the staff was just following protocal. Surely your kids could benefit from examples of tolerance and patience, that we all need when living in LOS, instead of the old AFS.(angry farang syndrome). Would you have acted this way in your native contry? Did you not spoil the day for kids?

Drive safe! and Happy New Year.

No wonder some Thais have such an anti-farang sentiment.. do you blame them?

Actually, I spent a week or so viewing and reporting on movies and activities at the Phuket Film Festival and I suffered the same crap leaving the carpark on every occasion - none of the staff knew what the Phuket Film Festival was and why I should be in the centre so long, free of charge ... :o

Posted

every time I leave they ask whether I had receipt of shopping. I say " bai tanakarn' (went to bank) and this works. FREE of charge.

Maybe it doesn't work at midnight LOL :o

i dont think i could ever be bothered getting so worked up over ten lousy baht. who cares! we can all jump up and down and talk about principles etc, but at the end of the day....its just ten baht.

its a small price to pay for quality time with your family, dont you think?

But They still have to address the poor Exit signage, the lighting and the stink!

Angry over 10 Baht? Since it's NYE, why get angry over 10 baht? If it's 100 Baht then you can murder her, but 10 Baht?

And with kids in your car, what does this show them?

Posted

I totally agree with you, its not about the 10 Baht, its the fact that after spending a lot of money you should get free parking. Maybe the management should change their there policy as to the amount spent not the time spent shopping.

Anyway you should have paid up with a smile and instead of getting angry you should have done the Funky Chicken Dance.

"It works for me".

shows then how to be a hot headed farang

I mean seriously 10 baht? City Centre parking in almost any other country is way more expensive. Its also clearly posted that the first 3 hours are free and after that its payable so I don't see the problem.

You could always use a moped and then the parking is free - just get a side car for the wife and kids :o

Aside from the obvious, "probably shouldn't let 10thb here 10thb there ruin your day" I think we can all agree that Jungceylon is poorly managed.

The company I work for discussed opening there a year ago, the management threw up a banner "so and so coming soon" and even though we backed out of the deal eight months ago, the banner is still up so that prospective renters see it. So add deception to the management malaise.

I like Central, and I get better bargains at Robinson's Phuket town.

Did anyone think about the poor parking attendant, who for about 200bhat/day has to enforce lousy policies from a terrible and greedy management while getting yelled at by customers just for doing her job? :o

Posted

im not sure that the cost of parking should be relative to the amount of money you spend in the centre.

i have been to jungceylon specifically looking for something for ages, and not been able to find it. in the meantime i had a coffee and lunch. should i have to pay more or less than anyone else?

Posted

Tricky situation for Jungceylon management as they don't want to supply free parking for folks using Bangla and surrounding facilities, especially given the severe lack of parking. Not the same for Central, who offer free parking as Central's Mall is remote from any other shops etc.

But you have to think that spend just 100 baht (or goto the bank) and get 3 hours free parking is stupid low. In my opinion it should be spend 100 baht (or bank chit) for the first hour, spend 500 baht for 3 hours free, and spend 1,000 baht gets 6 hours free. That's not too hard to administer. Myself, I have no problem paying 10 baht/hour, and spend nothing in Junceylon, it's really cheap. I'm just very glad to have a secure place to park in central Patong.

Would you dare to disagree with parking charges at home??? if you must pay, then pay....10 baht or 1000....
Why keep talking about back home "we do this and we do that". This is Thailand mate!

All the best for the new year. Cheers.
