I feel sad.

No one has ever invited me to join this thingy - Facebook? Does this mean I have no friends?

Then who are the 500 contacts in my Hotmail address book?

And those in GMail and Yahoo?

Not to mention the various discussion fora such as ThaiVisa.

Quite frankly I waste too much time on the Internet as it is, so not being a subscriber to these teenage chat shows doesn't worry me.

P.S. I don't watch American Idol either.

Nice one HB. If it doesn't satisfy a need I'm going to do it!

never really understood what this facebok could do for me....I rather felt spied out by someone out there.

What abbout LinkedIn? This comes across a bit more professional or is it also a scam?

Facebook could tell you the real true(face) of your significant other . That's if s/he would (invite) you from the first place to view his/her personal profile and view the(surprising) friends' list;that might lead to a very unpleasant hidden facts sometimes.

BUT; IF S/HE is clever(player) enough, you will be invited then but with a limited access to their profile(and their reality) too.

There is a thing called (wall) there; you can write what ever comment you want on that's person's wall (but it 'll be erased after seconds by the wall's owner if s/he didn't like it) :D

I used this (Facebook) once to write Jim Carrey's Best movie( Liar,Liar,Liar........) on someone's wall cause he was bragging abt being the most decent honest priest on earth! :o

Linked in is different, is geared more towards business and has some benefits, if used properly. Treat it as an avenue to get in touch with people via someone you know.

Say you want to do business with Somchai & Sons but don't know anyone there, but you know me and see that I know several senior management types at the organisation who have agreed to accept contacts from people they know about business or career opportunities. You can let me know that you want to get in touch with so and so and I'll refer your message and details.

No scam, the more people who use it, the more it benefits the users.

A bit like golf then? :o

some dude that was bein' interviewed on bbcworld said it all when he described facebook as a scam perpetrated by advertisers to enable them to obtain personal information to put together 'the demographics' needed to market the junk that they want to sell... the 'ol 'ye don't get sumpin' fer nothin' axiom well illustrated...

Only not as frustrating, embarrassing or fun :D

I love it.

I've met up with loads of people I've lost touch with over the years, if I don't know them or don't like them I reject their request.

My profile can only be seen by the people I've chosen as friends, then its my fault if a photo gets into the wrong hands.

Don't put your birthday/date on your page, or anywhere else on the web for that matter.

It is better than simply e-mail as you can flick to friends pages, see what they're up to. Leave messages on their page, check out the photos from Sat night that Baz took....! Its the same as a lot of things, learn how to use it, it can be a cool addition to your time wasting or, don't use it....

....as for this add 20 friends, the group out to ban it will hopefully gather pace, it is a ridiculous annoyance.....!

I find it far easier than My-Space and I haven't used Bebo so can't comment.

I've got this one mate from up norf on me facebook whom I haven't even met yet!

:o

I like it more than things like myspace.. the privacy settings are fairly good if properly managed, and the people who "add" me are genuinely people I know, or have known. Having said that, it's a bit wierd to get in touch or be contacted by your best mate from PREschool that you haven't heard from in 25 years: "So, what you been up to for the past quarter century?"

Also, the network/group faciltiies are pretty good.

Hey Kayo, what's the 'French Croissants' in your sig for? Have i missed something? Has the relationship with the Danish Pastry, 'crumbled' already :o

May I refer you to the newly updated Housemate Dilemma thread; Update Starts here (post 113)

Ah right, now i see. In that case, maybe your sig should read something like "Kayo likes French Croissants for starters, Irish Stew for main course and Danish Pastries for afters, sometimes accompanied by the smell of an English Rose" :o

I agree with Kat, I love it cos ive got in touch with so many old friends on there, but agree the applications bit is toss, I just ignore everything. The traveller IQ challenge is by far the best fun on there, most of the other stuff is just twonk :o
