Call the cops. LOL.

Well, I might just do that for the Fun of it.

I have prepared a list of suspects, and you can vote:

1: Suspect #1: The construction workers who just started to build a condo/apartment near the home

2: Suspect #2: The workers who came to fix a few things in the house recently

3: Suspect #3: The guy who came to put recently a water meter (for the construction site)

4: Suspect #4: Random, it could be anyone who dare to visit the soi ...

Clue #1:

It's unlikely someone who live around here. 06h30 is the worse time to come and stole something ...

About 06h30 this morning, a car stopped in front of our house, and stole our water meter.

Monday sucks !

Buy a plastic replacement. They are less likely to be stolen for the scrap brass value

Happy days

Good news, this is now fixed in a record time, and did not have to pay anything for the replacement.

It is common enough practice in Australia where you know you will have an excess water bill coming shortly to either drive over the meter (so the dial is broken and the numbers are unreadable). That way, you still have water to your property.

I don't know how long it would take to replace a stolen water meter - some things happen a lot faster in Thailand than I would have thought possible.

It was undoubtedly stolen for the scrap metal. With the current price, you can make a good living just picking up unattended pieces not very well secured. Why do you think kids have been taking the nuts and bolts out of the electric pylons.

This is quite a common crime. I think there are copper parts that they're after - the rest just goes for junk.

1 or 4 in the poll, I'm guessing. The construction workers wouldn't have a car, motorcycle would be more their style. But I think these thieves probably just cruise around until they find an easy target.

who cares who stole it, (assuming your renting) the owner will just have to get a new one, but he will probably blame you in order for you to pay.

You left out .. your brother in law ... the neighbor that thinks your music is too loud .... the waitress down the street that you failed to tip on Sunday night .. etc

You are lucky, When we moved back to UK from Germany, we inspected and signed for a fully refurbished Council house in Warrington, we drove into town to get lekkie, gas and water turned on, when we came back 2 hours later, Front Door Gone, complete builtin Kitchen gone!! electric and gas meters Gone!!New Bath, Pedestal and Toilet Bowl gone all of it never to be seen again, :o Nignoy

Happened to me twice, and I live on one of the quiter, more respectable developments in Pattaya. Both times there was a new building gang in the area.

My theory is that they sell them back to the meter replacement man, as the new ones were 400 baht each. I now have a metal cage around it, bolted into the ground to keep the pilferers at bay.
