I stayed on Tioman some years ago, in basic accomodation. Typical Kampang accomodation, wood hut, cold shower etc, but right on the beach. Very quiet and relaxing. Think the place was called the Mango tree or something like that, I'll try and dig out some info.

I stayed in Ayer Batang in one of the cheap chalets. That was back in 1992, so things probably changed a little bit.
