people living in Pattaya with an educational standard not beyond primary school are too stupid to learn Thai. they envy the intelligent ones who live in Khon Kaen and discuss on a daily basis highly sophisticated topics (such as ancient greek philosophy, quantum mechanics, political problems in Abkhazia and Ossetsia, etc.) with their thai girlfriends or wives who all hold Ph.D.s from the most famous universities

I think the thread has gone so off topic, and theres so many personal attacks here that its not worth the time trying to clean it up.

the word farang has been debated quite thoroughly, on atleast 2 occasions in the last month that I recall. probably more on various other threads.

some views on the meaning of the word has been given (referring to caucasian/foreigner) but those that believe it to be a negative term will continue to think so. I think you just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.
