1000 baht - that's 28 bottles of Chang Beer! Will sound pretty good on the CD then! Will have to think hard about this one.

It is BAHT or maybe you get a free BATH thrown in there too!

Did anybody go to the the opera?

As for Lannaman's Chiang Beer comsumption - still have a few of the 28 bottles to consume.

Reckon that hotel will turn out a White Elephant with the credit crunch and the PAD/PPP debacle.

Good information Localguy!

The weakness of the official invitation (by e-mail and snailpost) was that everybody who received it

was not only supposed to know what a chamber-opera is, but also all about opera in general and

Puccini's Boheme in particular. Who and how many singers ("dynamic, young and world-renowned")

were going to perform was left to the imagination. It was simply a picture of a man and a women,

looking like artists, the title of the opera and the above mentioned prices.

And of course the promise that the audience was going to be delighted with enchanting music,

the finest singing and exquisite costumes, an approach that not everybody will appreciate, as this

normally is left to the audience to decide.

The design and quality of the mailings and postings of Le Meridien are superb. What the target group

is considered to be is left in the middle. I would guess the principal and the headquarters of Le Meridien

International. It doesn't seem to connect to the local population, a possible mistake as this potential is

neglected on forehand.

The people I spoke to were all enthousiastic; the happening was above all expectation. Everybody enjoyed it.

Though 56 visitors to the first opera of Chiang Rai is not much.

At least there was the PAD to blame and this was actually done (which confirmed that the people of Chiang Rai

not really were seen as the main target group, you were expected to arrive by plane).

We congratulate and thank Khun Moh with his initiative and we wish him good luck.

We hope and expect that he will continue to contribute to the development of a rich and manifold cultural life

in Chiang Rai.
