Map Of Chiang Rai Province

Featured Replies

Anyone come across a decent map of chiang Rai province. Something similar to a UK Ordanance survey 1 in 50 map would be ideal, although I don't expect to find it.

Does anyone have anything close out there.

doing a bit of exploring on the motorbike and my screens too small to do google earth much justice.

I've been looking for a while but with no success.

Google Maps is great if you have a printer you can print your own maps to what ever scale you want.

You might want to take a look at the Royal Thai Survey maps. They are the equivalent of Ordnance maps, to use your term.

Don't know about availability in CR; they are sold at numerous bookshops in CM.

Sheet NE 47-3, scale is 1:250,000, title "Changwat Chiang Rai; Thailand".

Cost was 135 B when I paid for mine.

They also have maps on a much smaller scale available, ie 1:50,000.

Hope this helps.

Arh, if you're looking for a map for motorcyclists then check out the new GT Rider Golden Triangle map. Look in St Motorcycle Rent, Orn Books or Nai In Books for copies. ST has plastic ones.

For the 1:50 thou maps of the top north, you will need about 6 to cover the area roughly from the Kok River north & most of these are not available to the general public.

I thought I heard something about the detailed maps not being available to the general public. Thats ideally what I'm looking for.

Guess I'll have to keep looking.

Got the entire british isles on 1:50,000 here on my laptop. Sods law.

Copying and pasting from the "Detailed City Map For Mueang Chiang Rai?" thread started in June, 2008, I said:

"A few years ago I bought "Map of CHIANG RAI" published by PN MAP for 90 baht at the book store on the first level of Big C. By far the best one I own, it's got the city on one side and the province on the other. I'm pretty sure it's still for sale."

It's still the best map.

I did look at the time you mentioned it grrr, but couldn't see it.

I'll check again next time I'm in there.

I bought GT Rider Golden Triangle map and I think it's one of the best ever made Chiang Rai province map !

For example I haven't found The Golden Horse Temple (Wat Tham Pa Are Cha Tong) from any other map before but GT Rider map have that (Mae Kham).
