I've just called Sea Tran Office at Ban Rak and the staff said that the service between Samui and Koh Tao is running as per normal schedule..

Tomorrow there will be the last run Seatran Ferry to Nathon at 6.30 am. No more return to Thong Sala. They say they need the ferry for the very busy Donsak-Nathon route.

Bye bye useful car route to Samui...

Yes, I can see why they would change it to Nathon-Don Sak for the high season, I am sure its a much more profitable route.

Pity for those of us on Koh P tho. :o

Not between Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, no. Raja ferry runs between Koh Phangan and Don Sak.

But I have to say that on the times I've taken the Seatrans ferry from Koh Phangan, it was only half full. So, while I am unhappy about the loss of the car ferry link between Phangan and Samui, I can see why they would cancel it.

Obvious reasons. People come in increasing numbers from the mainland to Samui by using vehicles since there's only just so many flights. Most of the people continuing to Phanang have just their pack backs with them. Current situation isn't good for either of the islands.

No, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the current situation and more likely to do with the fact that more often than not the ferry between Phangan and Samui runs half full and has for months.

If this is the truth there´s no question about why. Samui traffic is full boats so offcourse its more interesting than the kpg route. Out of respect they could do 1/week or something kpg-samui. But i guess money talks as usuall..... :o .

Yes, it would be nice to have even a once a week service for those residents who like to go to Samui to hit Makro.
