February 4, 200917 yr What is the procedure if you have obtained a new passport while out of the country when your extension of staay and re-entry are still in the old one. Do you simply show both passports at immigation upon arrival (get a permission of stay stamp up to the end of your extension permit date) and then go to immigration office and have the 3 stamps (extension of stay, re-entry and permission of stay) transferred ? Any recent experiences ? Thanks

Where I come from, a passport has to be valid for at least 6 months to be used for foreign travel. a visa run owner or immigration might be able to answer. I'm sure someone here knows.

Where I come from, a passport has to be valid for at least 6 months to be used for foreign travel. a visa run owner or immigration might be able to answer. I'm sure someone here knows. It is not a visa it is an extension of stay of 1 year with a re-entry permit. During the period of validity of this extension and of the re-entry permit I will be out of Thailand and obtain a new passport I will then comeback to Thailand with 2 passports one with which I left (with an extension of stay, re-entry permit and exit stamp), this passport will not be valid any more as I will also have its replacement (brand new obtained out of Thailand without any stamps in). Upon arriving at the airport with these 2 passports will the officer stamp me in my new passport (entry stamp with period of stay) until the end of my valid re-entry permit in my old passport ?
February 4, 200917 yr Krub You are correct. Use both passports when you enter the country. Then go to immigration and have all your stamps transfered over to your new one.
February 4, 200917 yr I don't know into which passport they will put the arrival stamp. Normally, it would be in the new passport but because your re-entry permit is in the old passport the immigration officer at the airport may have a problem with that. Perhaps they will transfer the extension and re-entry permit to the new passport right there at the airport and then stamp you in on your new passport. On e way or the other you should have no problem keeping your extension and re-entry permit. It won't be the first time that they have to deal with a case like yours. -- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
