Man with HIV/Aids confesses to posing as Arab prince for unprotected sex with women

PATTAYA: -- Posing as an Arab prince, a Thai man livฌing with HIV/Aids lured more than 20 women into having unprotected sex in Pattaya, before stealing their valuables, reportedly to pay for medicines.

Police swooped early yesterday morning followฌing a tipoff that a thief wanted for a pursesnatch on January 9 was walking on Soi 9 of Pattaya Road 2. They arrested Suriyachat Thanomsuk, 29, and iniฌtially charged him with theft after he confessed to stealing the purse for monฌey to pay for medicines.

Further investigation reฌvealed that Suriyachat, who spoke good English through working at a speedboatrental service, had been posing as an Arab or Indian prince to lure both Thais and forฌeigners into sleeping with him so he could steal their valuables. He told police that most of the sex was unprotected, meaning that at least 20 people had been exposed to HIV infection.

Police urged any woman who suspects she may have been a victim of Suriyachat to file a complaint and have a blood test.

On Wednesday a story was published by some local media companies regarding a man accused of a bag snatch. Khun Surichart aged 29 confessed to the theft and also confessed to luring women to his room, having sex with them and stealing items from them. It was reported by one local media outlet that the man, who confirmed he is HIV Positive, would lie to woman including High Society Women that he was a Prince from the Middle East. We spoke with Khun Surichart who is angry over these claims and told us that he only targeted prostitutes working on the Beach. Khun Surichart who was incarcerated on Wednesday was led from the cells on Thursday Morning to make an official complaint to Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanapat, the Deputy Chief of Pattaya Police about the story which was published on Wednesday. The Deputy Chief confirmed that the details regarding the targeting of High Society Women was not correct and detail regarding him impersonating a Prince from the Middle East was also not correct and both details were not included on the Police Report, however he did confirm that Khun Surichart was a repeat offender. It was suggested to Khun Surichart that he pursue the case and consult a lawyer which is now under consideration by him at this time.
