Time Changes

Featured Replies

So, when i waddle in here around 10 or 12 pm it is around 5 am with you lot.

Who should be in their beddy beddy beds.

It is quite nice to meet up and ponder with the Western members at that time.

And as you come out of your slumber - we are off to ours (hopefully) and the threads and such have been filled up with comments which you have to scroll down - as we have to vice versa.

Does it bother you - Thai based or Western based - that the agro still goes on between all of the posters. In the time zones, or do you think it is good? Sorry, did not mean aggro just the fact that some topics have been filled up while you were in goo goo land.

This is my big finalè and i shall take my last stand and shall go queitly.

See you all tomorrow, pink ones, i think....

Try and add to the thread i think it is an interesting one. Thanx

I forgot to say that i threw this one in at 2.45 am in Swissland. Which is when you all will see it.... oh dear

Patsy you hadn't been partaking of just one or two small drinkies, had you?

Have to say that the same thought did flit through my own tiny mind.

Sorry, Patsy. :o

Patsy - you don't have to worry about time zones - my neighbour comes home about 02.30 most nights, discusses his problems-with-his-staff outside my bedroom window before parking his vehicle.

Then the kids are off to skool at 07.30, so my sleep cycle is much like our washing machine spin cycle - very quick and very short.

When I saw the thread title "Time Changes" I thought you mean that non-linear time warp that occurs between Friday evening and Monday morning when all the clocks go into overdrive. A similar but very personalised similar effect happens over a holiday period proving time is not the same everywhere and not constant.

Anyway enough of my off topic ramblings, the input into the constant state of armageddon, aka General Forum, whilst I am about my slumber (Thailand +2 hours), doesn't bother me unless a thread gets closed and I had some little twist to add to the arguement. I must admit that there are a few gladatorial members that seem to enjoy entering into a state of Mutually Assured Destruction over the most trivial issues and I'm quite happy to wake up refreshed in the morning and pick my way through the battlefield passing out tea and sympathy to the wounded.

In short I don't care.

In New Zealand, 1st country in the world time wise, 6 hours ahead of LoS.

Neva a worry, I come in at anytime I am feeling bored, makes no difference.

There always seems to be 100s of folk in TV, great.

Usually in my mornings, NZ time, I can at times almost fill a page with my own posts, have done it about 4 times....... LOL

Actually Pete,

London is the first time zone (GMT)

The rest of the world is either ahead or behind. But never correct.

:o

What time is it now??? :o

Wherever you are in the world the time is now.

The time has gone, the song is over, thought I had something more to say.

^^So, if I'm on the 'phone here in Oz to KO and I say, 'According to my watch, it's four o'clock', he's going to say, 'Well it's wrong'? :o

No, KO would say "is that GMT?" to which you would reply "No, it's GMT +10" (if you were Eastern Aus for instance) Blimey, you Aussies can't even agree between yourselves as to what is the correct time. You have 3 time zones, don't you :D

Oh well, if you want to be fussy, Jangles - GMT plus 11: EADST (Eastern Australia Daylight Saving Time). We give the hour back on Sunday 5 April. But hey, don't worry - few of us are perfect... :o

And yes, our time zones are all over the place like Nurse Diesel's handbag. (You tend to get that with countries of any significance. :D )

Ping, all explained here, clear as the Murray River

Coordinated Universal Time (UTC Fr. Temps Universel Coordonné) is a time standard based on International Atomic Time (TAI)

with leap seconds added at irregular intervals to compensate for the Earth's slowing rotation.

Leap seconds are used to allow UTC to closely track UT1, which is mean solar time at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.

The difference between UTC and UT1 cannot exceed 0.9 seconds, so if high precision is not required the general term Universal Time (UT) (without a suffix) may be used.

In casual use, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is used to mean either UTC or UT1.

Owing to the ambiguity as to whether UTC or UT1 is meant, GMT is generally avoided in technical contexts.

Time zones around the world can be expressed as positive or negative offsets from UTC; UTC replaced GMT as the basis for the main reference time scale or civil time in various regions on January 1, 1972.

Gottit now?

Everything was much simpler when we used one of these...........

apart from strapping it to your wrist... :o

Ken - they don't they make those things in strap-ons? Save a fortune in batteries (not too flash at night, though)...

I wear a better one than a sundial.

Ornery analogue watch, chronometer.

Any watch that has correct time is a compass as well

Made a sundaial when I was about 10 y/o.

Great, so long as sun shone.

So long as blade is not fxt, you can change for d/lite saving

Good point. Otherwise, you'd need your DST one and standard time one. It must have been a watchmaker's picnic when DST was introduced to Bedrock...

Lucky for us that they invented time or we would not be able to waste it on the internet.

To quote Jonathan Miller in an interview in the BP a while back "The internet is the biggest waste of time since masturbation was discovered".

and there are some who's say "there speaks an expert in these things". :o

Ping at night time I leave the Sundial at home and carry one of these (Very Carefully....... :D .)

P.S. I've got this new idea for a new time machine based on water - I thought I'd float it here in Bedlam first.

Time to go, it's 2 drips past a drop............ :o

Nice amusing thought for a talking point. At the pub, casually reach into your pocket, withdraw and study your egg-timer, and say, 'Is it that late already?'

That would be funny. I have one that I use in the middle of a dead heavy conversation, I say:

'The night before my grandfather died, my grandmother rubbed grease all over his back - he went down hill very quickly after that!'

Er, actually we have as many as 5 time zones depending on the time of year. (Takes a big breath and starts)

Eastern Standard Time, Covers the east coast, except when

Eastern Summer Time comes into force, but not everyone joins in so there are 2 zones there for a large slice of the year.

Central Standard Time, covers the cenre of the country it 30 minues different than EST, however again when

Cetral Summer Time kicks in not everyone plays there so we get 2 zones there for a number of months.

Western Standard Time, covers the 1/3 of the coutry that is Western Australia it is 2 hours from EST. They are experementing with

Western Summer Time, but it not very popular with voters so it may not survive past this summer. (fades the curtains). this does not create too much confusion as there remains only 1 zone in ths sector irrespective to what the clocks say.

Just remember that Australia is wider than continental USA or Europe, so it takes quite a while for the sun to get from the east coast to the west coast.

So if I were in Melbourne during Daylight Saving Time amd I was on the phone to KO and told him it was 4 o'clock by my DST-ready sundial... never mind... :o

Is a DST-ready sundial like a HD-ready telly or a Vista-ready computer - you have to buy extra components to make them perform the 'ready' work?

Why don't they make drive-ready cars?

Salesman, 'A fine choice sir. Now, may I introduce you to our Accessories Manager? Perhaps sir may wish to upgrade the vehicle by fitting one of our vast range of engines, so that sir may enjoy the pleasure of driving it?'

Customer, 'Will that mean they put a sticker on the bonnet that says, "Engine Inside"?'

Ken - they don't they make those things in strap-ons? Save a fortune in batteries (not too flash at night, though)...

I think this is the wrong thread to be discussing strap-ons. Try the Japanese porn thread.
