Cancelling Ipstar

I just spoke to my wife on the phone who has tried to cancel Ipstar in favour of a cheaper connection.

She says that we can cancel but will need to continue paying a 1600baht monthly fee.

I am not there at the moment, as I wasn't there when it was set up (12+ months ago) so I cannot quite work out what this monthly fee is.

1) it is until the remainder of the contract expires, although I was not aware we were in a contract it is really hard to get the info from my wife over the phone.

2) perhaps it is equipment rental, although I thought we had purchased the equipment outright. If this is the case then surely returning the equipment will cancel the 1600 baht monthly fee?

Any of you guys cancelled your Ipstar connection? if so can you help shed some light on this for me?

Cheers

Does that mean you got the broadband sorted?

Brave man cancelling one without the other.

Dial up is not an experience to go back to!!

I haven't got the ToT sorted yet Astral, but we do have two TOT lines being installed next week. The wife tells me now she has already paid for the external Ipstar equipment to be moved to the new house. I guess when I get home I will go to ToT first, get the broadband connected then go to wattana and get the Ipstar cancelled.

His and Hers?

You do realise that the adsl leaves the line available for telephone calls even when you are on line?

Yes, I do mate. I think tuky thinks it is cool to have two :D

or perhaps it is because it took nearly two years or something to get the first one at the other house, she wants to have one in reserve.

I see it as a bargaining chip...who wants a telephone line? that will be 20k thanks.

They are impossible bunch to deal with.. Totally unprofessional..

In the end (in desperation after trying to be a fair and good customer) I just stopped paying.. The equipment is still here even 1.5 years later...

Sounds like a worry Livin, it seems to me that is the sort of thing we will end up doing. At the moment I am paying 3.5k per month and I am only home for 2 weeks every two months and the wife thinks the internet is actually inside my pc. :o

Just went to inquire for a new installation in Pattaya (no phoneline :o )

Installation fee : 3000 Baht, first month 3000 Baht(750 mb, 256/128)

Total to pay 6000 Baht +7% vat.....
