Hi All,

Just want to say thanks for all the advice I was given from all of you in the Phuket room. Living in Bangkok, I have asked several times overs the years about what to do and not what to do during my visits to Phuket.

When I came for New Year's a couple of years ago I got some great advice on where to go for New Year's Eve and not where to go! (Mom Tri's Boathouse)

I had a friend visiting last year and wanted to go to phuket and was looking for sunset suggestions and got many! The best suggestion was getting some beer from 7 11 and sitting on the beach and I did this several times during my last day except this time I upgraded and got Malibu!

This Songkran my boy friend and I were coming for 10 days and had decided to take a diving course. We ended up going with Playboy Diving. Nathan was away on business but his dad Barry took great care of us. They arranged for a dive instructor by the name of Mac who is probably one of the straightest guys I've ever met! Us being gay did not matter to him. He was wonderful and made the course fun and interesting to the point that we are coming back this weekend to go diving again. We are hooked!

We stayed at the Millennium Patong which for us was perfect. We did not need a romantic get away but were looking for activities during the day and being able to go out drinking at night! Hotel is perfect for stumbling back to in the late evening!

We ended up eating at Joe's Downstairs which was expensive but one of the best meals we had! Other places we ate were Molly Malones, Coyote (both of which I eat in Bangkok all the time) Savoey which though touristy has great seafood!

There was a motorbike festival on at Jungceylon and there was a tattoo competition as well. We ended up getting tattoos from Jimmy's Tattoo which is located near Paradise Complex next door to the hotel. He is really excellent and has won awards for his art.

Again, thanks for all your help in the Phuket room! If there are any other restaurants that we should not miss next weekend please let me know!

Does anyone else find this quite hilarious?

My point was that Playboy Diving is a gay company which is why we used them. So them providing a very straight ex military guy had us concerned at first as they usually very homophobic and we picked Playboy as we were also told that dive instructors in Phuket are quiet homophobic.

Hmmm...really...you thought I was a girl? Ha ha...made me chuckle also! FYI Gay also refers to women as well as in gay man or gay woman.

So now that you know that I'm guy and gay...does that mean I'm restricted to the gay room and can't get information from the Phuket room?

Thanks! As I said, I found all the help I was given over the last couple of years very good!

As far as dive instructors being homophobic...I agree with you boater...We did 6 dives over 4 days and met loads of different instructors and all were quite friendly and helpful!

For sure you are welcome here, I just thought it funny as it seemed out of context.

Cheers, HB
